    STUNNER!

It's his first touch! Joe Lolley latches onto a clearance on the edge of the area and smashes a half-volley past Lee Camp.

The boyhood Aston Villa fan bruises their biggest rivals. And it's his birthday too. What a few minutes we've had at the City Ground.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 75 mins

    Nottm Forest 0-2 Birmingham

Aitor Karanka makes an attacking switch as Joe Lolley comes on for Sam Byram.

AND WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT, HE'S SCORED!!!

  3. goal

GOAL: Nottm Forest 0-2 Birminghampublished at 72 mins

    Che Adams

    That's an absolute belter!

Che Adams collects the ball on the edge of the box, swivels and smashes a low shot into the corner.

It took a slight deflection but I'm not sure it mattered.

He's only been on the pitch a few minutes. Surely all three points are heading back to the West Midlands now?

  4. CLOSE!published at 68 mins

    Nottm Forest 0-1 Birmingham

Birmingham should be two in front!

Jacques Maghoma collects Maxime Colin's cross in acres of space inside the area but can only shoot straight at Costel Pantilimon.

Forest then go down the other end, but Matty Cash's shot from the corner of the box is blocked.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Nottm Forest 0-1 Birmingham

Forest make their second change as Ben Watson is replaced by Ben Osborn.

Blues also make a switch - Omar Bogle comes off, fellow forward Che Adams sprints on.

  6. Postpublished at 65 mins

Birmingham's defence has been so solid.

Matty Cash delivers a long ball down the right, Daryl Murphy battles with Harlee Dean but the former Brenford defender gets the better of Murphy and clears.

An hour gone and the Reds are yet to have a shot on target. I'm pretty sure Lee Camp has fired up a big cigar in between the sticks for Blues.

Where is their inspiration going to come from?

  8. Postpublished at 59 mins

    Nottm Forest 0-1 Birmingham

That's Forest's best attack of the match, but still no end product.

Matty Cash races through the middle, exchanges passes with Joao Carvalho on the right and then strikes, but his effort is blocked.

    Better intent from the hosts.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 55 mins

    Nottm Forest 0-1 Birmingham

Nottingham Forest's record signing Joao Carvalho is coming on.

The £13.2m midfielder replaces Hillal Soudani.

Can the 21-year-old help unpick this Blues defence?

One thing that has been excellent from Blues so far is their work-rate when they don't have the ball.

They're giving the Forest players no room at all. Garry Monk will be pleased with what he's seen, but will surely want another goal.

  11. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Nottm Forest 0-1 Birmingham

Jack Robinson shoots from 25 yards but can't connect properly and the ball trickles wide.

That was only Forest's second effort of the match.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

Blues get the second half started.

They dominated before the break but have just the one goal to show for it.

Big 45 coming up for both sides.

I wonder what Aitor Karanka had to say to his Forest players at the break?

He doesn't strike me as a manager who would lay into his team. But I've never met him. So I'm just guessing.

Anyway, the teams are getting ready to come back out for the second half at the City Ground...

  14. Posh break record with fifth winpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    FT: Plymouth 1-5 Peterborough

Following Portsmouth's draw against Doncaster, Steve Evans' Peterborough are now the only side with a 100% record in the EFL - and their tally of five league wins on the bounce to start the season is a first for the Posh.

"I think the people who are inside the football club and know me best know what it means," boss Evans told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. "My few friends near my home know what it means.

"To be able to come into a football club and get five wins - I look at the success that Darren Ferguson had, which was incredible, so to be told in the week that this could be a record makes me immensely proud.

"But I'm proud of the players. The players deliver these performances and they deliver these results. We have a recipe that is sign good players, put them in a style and a system and work them hard, and make sure they give everything to the cause.

"To me, Peterborough United's a cause. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come here."

  15. Leeds are the best team in the league - Farkepublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    FT: Norwich 0-3 Leeds

Daniel Farke NorwichImage source, Getty Images

Defeat against league leaders Leeds means Daniel Farke's Norwich have just one win to show from five attempts in the Championship - and Farke was full of praise for Marcelo Bielsa's clinical side.

"Leeds played at a top level and you can see why they are unbeaten and at the top of the league," he said. "At this moment, they are 100 per cent the best team in the league."

The Canaries recently revealed that they've painted the away dressing room pink because it "lowers testosterone levels", but after two home defeats in the Championship, Farke is a little sceptical.

He said post-match the unconventional decor wasn't down to him and that "for me, it's not a topic at all".

  16. Derby clicked today - Lampardpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    FT: Derby 2-0 Preston

Frank Lampard DerbyImage source, Getty Images

Frank Lampard's Derby made it back-to-back wins in the Championship with a comfortable victory over Preston North End.

But the former Chelsea midfielder was modest in his post-match assessment, and says his side's recent form is down to the men on the field.

"Clicking is a consequence of probably hard work from us on the training ground but the players out there," he told BBC Radio Derby.

"It's up to them what they do to click, to play off each other, to work for each other, and if that's clicking - today, it did."

  17. Bielsa grounded amid Leeds' high-flying startpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 25 August 2018

    FT: Norwich 0-3 Leeds

Marcelo Bielsa LeedsImage source, Getty Images

Leeds are top of the Championship - but there was no hurtling into a knee slide on the touchline, a la Porto-era Jose Mourinho, for their boss Marcelo Bielsa.

He looked unmoved as his side slotted three past a sinking Norwich.

He said: "Of course I'm happy about results, but usually I don't celebrate the goals. It's not about humility - it's more about respect for my colleague, the head coach, who is just 10 metres away from me."

Bielsa was also full of praise for midfielder Pablo Hernandez, who was on the scoresheet for the third time this season today.

"He's a silent leader," explained Bielsa. "He improves every player around him and he does this without saying anything."

Boos ring around the City Ground as the half-time whistle goes.

Winless Birmingham have been mightily impressive and lead through Lukas Jutkiewicz's clever header.

    Forest have been woeful.
