Probably not today as they are 2-0 up, but are Morata and Giroud good enough as their only out-and-out forward options to win the Premier League? I think not.

Chelsea are in control here now, so it will be interesting to see if Ruben Loftus-Cheek is introduced.

The England World Cup man has remained at Stamford Bridge in the hope of getting sufficient playing time to enhance his development.

He has been warming up for quite a while now.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORK - Alonso (Chelsea)published at 16:14 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

This would have been a bit special. Rudiger again is a presence at a corner and causes problems, his knock down heads towards Marcos Alonso, who shows his circus skills with a scissor kick, but it hits the bar and bounces away.

    Great skill from Alonso.

    Huddersfield Town 0-2 Chelsea

Two shots on target, two goals for Chelsea. Boos from the home fans as they are unhappy with referee Chris Kavanagh's decision to give the London side a spot-kick.

This will take some saving from Huddersfield if they are to pull this one out of the fire.

Maurizio Sarri watched that penalty leaning against the dug-out.

As Jorginho rolled the ball in, Sarri restricted his celebration to clenching both fists, which remained by his side.

As introductions to English football go, that was a pretty decent first 45 minutes.

    Jorginho (Chelsea, penalty)

So, so cool from the debutant. Jorginho takes it, a pause in the run-up completely fools Ben Hamer and leaves him flat-footed as the new man slots his penalty calmly into the bottom corner.

It's a long way back for the hosts now.
