  2. 'Give chances to youth'published at 20:05 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Chelsea 3-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Unai Emery, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is clear the result is not good for us but the process is continuing. Today, one thing is in the first half the reaction after 2-0, and also the efficiency. We had chances to do more score in the first half, I think we need to control the second half like we want, but I think we didn't play like the first half and our chances were less.

"The attacking moment is all the team and the defensive moment is all the team. We need to be more compact. We need a lot of work together and it is my responsibility first, to give this compact block and to give this attacking balance.

"We need to continue working for what we want, our process, today we had two midfielders one 19 and one 21 years old, we need to give them the confidence to play, but our way, our process, is to improve and give these chances to to the young players. I think today is for not happy with the result, but the next matches to prepare well."

  3. 'Not easy with Arsenal'published at 20:02 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Chelsea 3-2 Arsenal

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri speaking to BBC Sport: "Very important. In this period for us it's not easy to gain points. Three points is an important target for us, we did very well for 75 minutes but inside that, 15 minutes were horrible.

"It was very, very difficult because we lost the distances between the players and we were unable to cover the lost balls and press like a team, so we were really in trouble. But I think the players were really very good because at 2-2 it was not easy with Arsenal.

"In the second half we did very well also mentally."

On Eden Hazard and Mateo Kovacic: "In this moment they are not able to play the full 90 minutes. Also, I think to play 25-30 mins when the intensity of the game is going down, is better. I think Mateo can become a great player.

On a good start to the season: "Yes, especially as our pre-season was very difficult."

Lorcan: Only player that I'd staple in my Arsenal starting lineup next week would be Guendouzi.

Goose: Matteo Guendouzi, finally Arsenal have some heart in midfield.

Ash: Coming from French league division 2 and 19, Guendouzi looks a decent buy.

  7. 'I am happy without the result'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Chelsea 3-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Unai Emery, on BT Sport: "We want to win. This is always the way but it is clear that defensively we suffered three goals but also we had chances to do more goals. I think the result is 3-2 but we also think we did chances to do more score.

"In the first half we are creating chances to score, and for that I am happy, I am in the match thinking we are well on the pitch. But also they had options, chances to score and effectivity (sic) is the difference.

"Our reaction is good, we had chances to go 2-2 and we deserved to do more at half-time. The half-time is good for us and the second half is we ewe need to continue this control, but I think the second half we don't push and keep possession like we did in the first half, and in our moments, our chances, we didn't do, and they did.

"That is why the results is 3-2. But it is one process. In the second half we played with two midfielders, 19 and 21 years old. They improve and are continuing. I am happy without the result."
