  2. 'The fans need to believe'published at 18:12 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    West Ham 1-2 Bournemouth

    West Ham United

More from West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini...

On the support: "The fans must also trust again this season. The stadium was empty with 10 minutes to go, we can still score in that time. They need to believe but if you don’t have results it is more difficult for them.

On Marco Arnautovic:"I don’t want to talk about individual performances, as a team there were mistakes defending. We improved from Liverpool, in attack we didn’t create so many chances, especially after we were winning 1-0 and had more space."

  3. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Everton 2-1 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Mark Hughes speaking to BBC Sport: "For the most part we did ok, I thought we had the better general play and chances created. Unfortunately we found ourselves two down.

"It was not a particularly poor first-half and the second-half we got a goal back which was important. It was a very stop start game and the referee allowed it to be fragmented.

On goalscorer Danny Ings: "I am delighted he is off the mark and get the momentum building. His transition to be a Saints player will be very smooth."

On a late challenge by Pickford on Ings: "The keeper is lucky to stay on, he carries on with his boot. I am surprised the referee did not see that or it warrant any further punishment. It was a little bit like his [the referee's] performance.

  4. 'Still room for improvement'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Tottenham 3-1 Fulham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BBC Sport: "Knowing the way we won, we need to improve different areas. We changed the set up and used different players, but I think the same things we need to improve.

"I am a little disappointed as we conceded a lot of chances today. We dominated and fully deserved the victory, but we conceded too much and we need to be more consistent.

"I am so happy because after two weeks we have six points. The effort was good and now we need to prepare for the next game against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"When you dominate a game you need to score more goals so we need to work hard.

"We had a lot of chances to score. We need to be more aggressive."

  5. 'The players have to forget about last season'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    West Ham 1-2 Bournemouth

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BBC Sport:

On the result: "I think the team was too nervous. We won the first half 1-0, from the bench it looked like the players wanted to finish and didn’t continue playing, especially late in the first half. In the second half we conceded two easy goals, four defenders against one for the first goal."

On his squad: "The squad, everyone must forget about last season, trust what we are doing and look to the future. I feel the squad is without trust, many have to adapt to the Premier League. We knew we had a difficult start with fixtures but at home we must win."

  6. 'It was too much enthusiasm from Vardy'published at 18:00 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Leicester 2-0 Wolves

    Leicester City

More from Leicester boss Claude Puel...

On Jamie Vardy's red card: "It is perhaps too much enthusiasm from him. He didn't want to make a foul. He touches the ball and was perhaps a bit too enthusiastic and wanting to make the difference. I hope he can come back quickly. He is a valuable player for us."

On speculation about his future: "It is not my concern. I only focus on the team. We worked very well in the window and have a good squad with good players. I am happy with the mentality."

  7. 'The dressing room is devastated'published at 17:57 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    West Ham 1-2 Bournemouth

    West Ham United

    West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere:

On individual mistakes: "We don’t want to think about that, we win as a team and lose as one. We controlled the first half and parts of the second but you can’t give player in this league that much space. We are not happy but have to take the positives. On another day we could be going in 2-0, 3-0 up but not to be."

On the team gelling: "We have got a lot of new players, at this level people won’t give us time. Another tough game next week, we felt good enough this week so everyone in the dressing room is devastated. In this league there is not much time to be down, got to get on the training ground. Had a tough start but everyone in this league has to be willing to fight and earn the right to play."

    Tottenham 3-1 Fulham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane, speaking BBC Sport: "I feels nice to score. It is a great win for us.

"I had a few chances and I would have liked to have done better, but I was there to score the third.

"I can put it in the back of my mind now. A lot of people talked about it. It always seemed to happen in August for me.

"I could have probably had a hat-trick today on another day."

  10. 'Wolves perhaps deserved a result'published at 17:50 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Leicester 2-0 Wolves

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Claude Puel, speaking to Match of the Day: "I think perhaps this team, Wolverhampton, deserve a result, but we took three points that are important. Congratulations for Wolves because they played well. They are difficult to read. They cause a lot of difficulty. It is difficult to defend against them. In the first few minutes it was crazy without anticipation. We were lucky.

"Also congratulations to my players as they kept a good attitude and mentality. It was important to have the right attitude."

  11. 'We could and should do better'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Leicester 2-0 Wolves

    Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves boss Nuno Santo, speaking to Match of the Day: "Everybody saw that [we lacked luck]. We started very well. But you have to be clinical. That bit of quality to put the ball in. The way we played makes me proud but I am not happy with the result. We have to be accurate in the final moment.

"In every division, in football when you are the team that punishes first you can control the situation and emotions. We created enough to have scored.

"We must improve as a team to integrate new players and get talent out on the pitch.

"We could and should do better."

  12. 'Richarlison is working hard'published at 17:43 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Everton 2-1 Southampton

    Everton

Everton boss Marco Silva on Richarlison to Sky Sports: "Important for him and for his team-mates as well. I don't like to talk about one player, but he is working hard, enjoying where he is, helping his team-mates, and his team-mates helping him."

On the game in general: "It was a good first-half and we deserve the three points.

"We dug in at the end and we need to be stronger on conceding at set pieces, that is something we can work hard to improve."

    West Ham 1-2 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

More from Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe...

On David Brooks' performance: "Really pleased, he was excellent for us and going forward had a goal threat. His overall play showed more experience than his age so really good game for him."

On sticking with player from last season: "We pride ourselves on being loyal to players who have earned it. They have been brilliant for me, there is more continuity for us. There’s other to come in so the squad looks very strong."

On missed chances: "I'm not going to be critical but we could have scored more. We were creative and opened them up."

On 150 league wins as a manager: "I didn’t know that, that’s nice to know. I don’t keep count so when you get to milestones it is nice to be told."

  15. 'This must encourage us'published at 17:36 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Tottenham 3-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic, speaking to BBC Sport: "In the important moments Spurs showed great quality. After scoring a quality second goal, they scored a quality third goal.

"We had good moments in the game, especially at the start of the second half. We scored and had chances to score a second.

"We always try to find a way to win the games. We started the second half well and scored, but to be honest, they changed shape to a diamond and we did not have enough power to stop them.

"My team showed great effort and pushed hard, but it is not easy for a new Premier League team, but this must encourage us."

  16. 'We pride ourselves on being loyal to players'published at 17:33 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    West Ham 1-2 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Sport:

On the win: "Excellent win, excellent performance, especially the second half. 1-0 down, to come back there’s a lot of work to do so credit to the players.

Every team is reliant on their creative players, all those for us functioned well in the second half. How we haven't scored more we have look back, but it is a good sign."

On WIlson's goal: "We really needed it, a really good goal. He is outnumbered and showed his pace and it was a really good finish. Hopefully the start he needs to believe he can have a good season we know he is capable."

"It is a dream come true to score in the Premier League. To top the win off with a goal is brilliant.

"Kasper [Schmeichel] said to me that this is Premier League football. It is not always pretty and tricks. It takes hard work."

For all the money West Ham have spent, wasn't it obvious that the area to strengthen is in defence and a defensive midfielder? You don't win games when you leak like a sieve.

  20. 'We showed great character'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    West Ham 1-2 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

    Bournemouth goalscorer Callum Wilson:

On the match: We made hard work of it, being 1-0 down is never easy away from home. We showed great character.

On West Ham's penalty: I didn’t have a great view, the lads say it was a dive so I've got to believe my team-mates. I’d like to watch it back myself.

On his goal: Just to score, I was stretching for the ball, turned, started running and it was opening up for me. I saw a gap burst through and showed composure at the end.

On going joint top of the table: Nice for little old Bournemouth. Now it is about being consistent, we have another tough game next week.
