    Shkodran Mustafi

They should be behind but the Gunners have the lead!

What a header by Shkodran Mustafi who almost breaks the back of the net with a bullet header from Granit Xhaka's corner.

There was absolutely nothing Neil Etheridge could do about that.

Decent by Cardiff - a really competitive start by the hosts.

Cech is seeing lots of the ball in the early stages. It's been a nervy, hesitant start by the Gunners keeper who looks uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.

What's wrong with keepers in the Premier League?

After Alisson's howler for Liverpool, Petr Cech is caught in two minds after a back pass from Sokratis.

Almost a very embarrassing moment for Arsenal's experienced keeper.

Arsenal have got no chance of finishing in the top four. Manchester City and Liverpool will be battling it out for the top two spots and the rest will be between Chelsea, Manchester United and Spurs.

That's not me having a go. It's a rebuilding process at Arsenal.

I agree so strongly with Phil Bardsley’s comment about playing with pride (12:23). That’s what frustrates me the most - that lots of these players don’t seem to understand how much it means to wear that United shirt.

  17. Does either manager know their best XI?published at 13:03 British Summer Time 2 September 2018

    Cardiff v Arsenal (13:30 BST)

    Michael Pearlman
BBC Sport Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium

Interesting team news in the sense that there are appears to be little consistency in selection from either manager so far this season.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery pairs Alexandre Lacazette with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and recall Mesut Ozil, while Alex Iwobi slips out of the match day squad entirely.

Similarly, Neil Warnock opts to select Danny Ward from the start, even though he could not even find a place on the bench in Cardiff's first couple of Premier League matches.

They might have differing ambitions in the Premier League, but it would appear Arsenal and Cardiff are both very much a work in progress.

Neil Warnock says Cardiff City old boy Aaron Ramsey is Arsenal's modern version of Sir Bobby Charlton.

Ramsey was sold to Arsenal for £5m in 2008 and the Wales midfielder is back at the Cardiff City Stadium today.

"The gift of top players is they always have time... Charlton was always a step ahead of everyone," said Warnock of England's World Cup-winner.

"He (Ramsey) always finds time. That is something the top players always get.

"Every time I watch Wales, every time I watch Arsenal, I just think he does everything. He is a complete player," Warnock said.

Arsenal travel to South Wales on the back of their first win under Unai Emery, while Cardiff are still looking to score their first league goal of the new season.

Cardiff have picked up a couple of points from the opening three matches, but in two of them their opponents ended the match with 10 men.

This is the first of a tricky trio of games for the newly-promoted Bluebirds, with Chelsea and Manchester City next.
