Cardiff manager Neil Warnock: "I thought we started well. Though the first 30 minutes, we had shape and knew what we were doing but the goals killed us. I’ve not seen our heads go down like that.

"It’s a disappointment. Like I said before, it’s not going to define our season but it will knock our chin on the floor a bit. The lads have got to get over the weekend and get on with next week.

"It's very difficult for us against the top teams at the minute. So we have to make sure it counts against the other 13 teams we play. That's where we're going to get our points.

  3. 'Mahrez is incredibly talented'published at 18:29 British Summer Time 22 September 2018

    Cardiff 0-5 Man City

    Pep GuardiolaImage source, Reuters

Pep Guardiola on his return to dugout after suspension:

"I don’t play. The managers, we are there to be there when they have little doubts, to support them. They made me happy, more than one year, two seasons, and that’s why I will always be with them.

"After a not good result in midweek, we responded with the same level we had for the last 12 or 13 months

"In the second half at 0-3, you relax, you forget what you have to do, but we were consistent, we didn’t suffer too much and we created a good game.

"Of course the goals are important for Riyad Mahrez. He came here, he’s an incredibly talented player. He deserves to play more minutes, like Phil Foden. But the season is too long and they have to be ready, prepared, because they are going to play a lot of minutes.”

  4. 'We gave them presents'published at 18:21 British Summer Time 22 September 2018

    Huddersfield Town

    David WagnerImage source, X

Huddersfield manager David Wagner told BBC Sport: "We made so many big mistakes in my point of view. We got the lead but we gave them presents. We conceded two counter attack goals against Leicester, and we didn’t use our chances in the offensive side.

"Apart from that, the performance and the attitude was there. If I compare the gap between us and the other teams, there is not a lot and I can see we are closing the gap in terms of performances and the talent we have, but the opponent didn’t have to invest anything to score today and that is what we have to stop."

Leicester manager Claude Puel said: "It is a fantastic feeling to overcome this opponent who plays deep and defends well and it was important to come back in the second half with more desire and put them under pressure. We have quality on the pitch but our beginning is not enough."

"James Maddison improves game after game and he scored a fantastic free kick and I liked the idea for the first one (when he chipped the ball to an unmarked Jamie Vardy). I want my players to have this creativity to find solutions."

"We didn’t know what he can give at the beginning of the season, he had only played in the Championship but he has the quality to improve with us. He has a good mentality and he is a good listener. It is important he continues this way."

    James MaddisonImage source, PA

Leicester midfielder James Maddison said: "I had a different role today which I hadn’t played as much, but it was positive because I can come off the touchline without too much attention from opponents."

On Leicester's three goals, Maddison added: "The second goal probably picked it. I put a lot of practice into my free kicks on the training ground, and I take responsibility for them, so I'm delighted.

"I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, I love football and I love playing in the Premier League. It is a dream of mine to play for England, but I will keep focusing on my form for Leicester. I go into each game with the same mindset of showing people what I can do and letting the rest take care of itself."

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "Wilfried Zaha was quiet, a lot of that was of his own making. It has not a good week with all the discussions and polemic over the interview. , external

"It was the quietest I‘ve seen him for a while which is disappointing. Wiifried in high form would have been the difference.

"I think people are entitled to say what they want, we shouldn’t put a muzzle people. He obviously said what was on his mind in his heart.

"We’re not trying to influence referee or gain an advantage, but when someone says something controversial it will be jumped upon. We’ve had a week of that so I’m glad that’s behind us."

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Newcastle

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson speaking to BBC Sport:

"Newcastle defended well, worked hard. During the 90 minutes we had the best chances and looked more likely to score.

"Mamadou Sakho is disappointed with himself missing a big chance. He had an outstanding game, both centre-backs did and it would have been fitting for him to win it for us.

"Newcastle came with a game plan to make it difficult and deny space. You’ve got give them credit, we couldn’t have done more apart for the obvious of taking one or two more chances."

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitiez speaking to BBC Sport:

"A point is a point, I expected we would take our chances on the counter, but we didn’t do well.

"We have to create more in these situations. When you have the ball in front of the keeper we have got to finish that.

"We have been talking about Wilfried Zaha during the week, the team tried to defend him and help the full-backs defensively and did a good job.

"The positive is the team work, the unity and togetherness.

On the bottle thrown from the crowd that hit Aaron Wan-Bissaka: "It is not good, we are talking about 3000 fans, who were amazing. One mistake, everyone knows it is. 3000 fans and one made the mistake."

  10. 'We weren't outclassed'published at 17:50 British Summer Time 22 September 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand: "We gave them all three goals in the first half. Against quality like that you can’t afford to do that.

"We weren't outclassed. It was just one of those games, we need to take accountability and there were individual errors.

"It was important we didn’t go under in the second half, show resilience and character and make sure the result stayed the same, if not better.

    "The wins will start coming."

  11. "We conceded too readily'published at 17:48 British Summer Time 22 September 2018

    Mark HughesImage source, Reuters

Southampton manager Mark Hughes, talking to MOTD:"We conceded too readily in the first half, clearly you don’t want to do that against a very good Liverpool team at home.

"We were guilty of not stopping them creating moments in the first half. The second half was damage limitation. The guys were better in terms of shape, stopped some good attacks and got a clean sheet in the second half.

"We won’t be the first team and we won’t be the last that this has happened to. I’m pleased we were a little more controlled in the second half. We will take that positive but overall not a good day for us.

On Liverpool's chances on winning the league:

"Liverpool can win it and we have great respect for what they can do. They have got a lot of energy, pace, technical ability and hunger to go that extra step this season. But I'm more concerned with our season."

  12. 'The boys are in good shape'published at 17:42 British Summer Time 22 September 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp talking to MOTD: "My plan was to change tactics but we didn’t have time to train because of the weather in Liverpool

We scored from set pieces, that was really cool, and the second half we had to control the game a bit.

Winning seven in a row is cool but challenges will get tougher and tougher and we have four days to prepare for [League Cup game against] Chelsea. The boys are in good shape and that helps.

    On managing his 600th game:

"It's taken 18 years for 600 games and another 18 would mean I’ll be 69, so hopefully I’m still healthy."

    Eddie HoweImage source, Getty Images

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said: “I don’t think it was a 4-0 performance. We were well in the game and had chances, but we didn’t take them.

“We had them penned in at 2-0 and were one goal from changing the entire mood of the game.

“We’re very disappointed to concede four. That didn’t look on the cards early in game. We knew we’d have to defend crosses and set-plays well and we didn’t do that.

“We know how unforgiving the league and if you come off your high standards then you get beaten so we need to address that for next week.”

  14. 'We were creative in different ways'published at 17:32 British Summer Time 22 September 2018

    DycheImage source, Getty Images

Burnley manager Sean Dyche told MOTD: “We told the players we’ve got to get back to what we’re about and I’m pleased we’ve got that first win. It’s a start, and we’ll look to continue that.

“I was pleased with our energy and control of the game early on. We were making chances, forcing them back and being creative in different ways – they were four good goals for different reasons.

“We also had to defend diligently. Then they left themselves open and we capitalised on that. We made some massive chances against Southampton and Watford and didn’t take them - today we did.

“I don’t think Bournemouth were knocking on the door too much. It was an important save by Joe Hart but it would have been unjust for them to get something because I thought we were very good overall.”

"The result is really cool and the performance could have been better.

"The changes cost us as I changed the system. Xherdan Shaqiri was influential and Joel Matip was too, but our organisation was a problem.

"You could see that with the communication on the pitch, but we changed back to a system we are used to.

"Saints were not bad, they were really good, but maybe in the final third they were not the biggest threat.

"A clean sheet is very important and staying concentrated in an intense period is difficult.

"Joel Matip was spot on and the full backs had outstanding work rate and I liked what I saw. What I didn't like today was my fault."

Wolves goalscorer Joao Moutinho: "We had lots of chances, De Gea made a lot of saves, but they had chances as well. I thought we did a very good match. One point is good, maybe it could have been better, but it is good and we are happy.

"We have worked hard and with the mentality to have the ball and move it fast. The result is most important, but if you can play well and win it is better."

    Wolverhampton Wanderers

    Nuno Espirito SantoImage source, EPA

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo: "It was a good game, two teams wanting to win, lots of chances and emotion. I thought it was a point deserved, but we had the chances that showed with better decisions we could have won.

"We draw and we are happy, but know that we have to improve if we want to come to Old Trafford and win one day.

"We wanted to come here and score because we cannot play any other way.

"We are growing game by game and getting a little better. We are delighted with Adama and we have to help him make better decisions and be a better player - as we do with all the players."

    Manchester United

    Jose MourinhoImage source, PA

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think the result is fair. They deserved their point and we deserve the punishment of only getting one point. They started better were more aggressive, had more intent and I don't know why but they were more motivated.

"I was expecting more from my attacking players. There was not enough creativity, movement or dynamism.

"We made it quite easy for them to cope with our supremacy in last 20 minutes. Overall we don't deserve more than this.

"Our performance was not consistent, not creative and not dynamic.

"The way we started we were lucky to be the first team to score. From a metal point of view their approach was more for a football match than ours."
