"We missed in the second half many chances. In the first we hit the bar, I think we deserved three points. We played well, we were compact, had good organisation, moved the ball quickly and created chances but missed a 100% chance. When you can’t win, don’t lose.

"Sakho wanted to do the best, in the end missed. But okay we draw and continue to try and improve.

"Today the most important thing was a clean sheet, we can take a lot of positives."

"I thought we were good. The first half defensively we gave them too many opportunities

"Overall it was a solid performance and a good win and we knew it would be difficult.

"It felt the first half they had a few half-chances.

"We didn't want to give them anything and to have a clean sheet.

"Maybe we could have had one or two more but we just wanted three points on the board.

Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez told Premier League TV:

"We know it was difficult to play after the Champions League game but the manager told us to be ready for this game because it's never easy, especially away at Cardiff.

"We did well, we took the game from the beginning with the right intention and I think we deserved the victory.

Bournemouth have been dreadful. They didn't start with the right attitude. Burnley have been very good but Bournemouth have not done the basics right. The worst performance of the season, not much Eddie Howe can take from this game.

Substitute Charlie Austin fires an effort towards goal and Alisson is forced to palm it away for a corner.
