A good first half. Aberdeen have had more possession and were pushing forward with Gary Mackay-Steven doing what he does best - taking on players and putting in crosses. But so far their creativity has not returned any goals, with Sam Cosgrove and Stevie May both passing up good opportunities.Dundee have had more chances on goal, you could argue. Sofien Moussa though should have finished off his 11th-minute effort, while Kharl Madianga has failed to hit the target with both of his efforts.

  4. Not too lively in Livingstonpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Livingston 0-0 Kilmarnock

Ultimately a low-key first half that rather disappointed n terms of action. A rather strange atmosphere as well: not the biggest crowd and with the artificial turf kicking up loads of black pellets, this almost has the feel of a training game.

A bit of extra vim needed from both sides in this second half. You imagine that right now Steve Clarke and Kenny Miller in those dressing rooms will be urging their teams for more.

  5. HALF-TIME: Motherwell 0-0 Hamilton Academicalpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Motherwell 0-0 Hamilton

    John Barnes
    BBC Scotland at Fir Park

Motherwell have been the dominant force during a turgid first 45 minutes but they have only had two real chances of note to break the deadlock.

Gael Bigirimana’s header from a Chris Cadden cross was well-saved by Gary Woods in the Accies goal. The other came via a Curtis Main toe-poke at full stretch as he latched on to a Connor Sammon headed knockdown.

Accies have been on the back foot for the majority of the half with only one shot. That was a 25-yard effort from Rakish Bingham which lacked the power to beat Trevor Carson.

  6. HALF-TIME Dundee 0-0 Aberdeenpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

Aberdeen have had 10 corners in the first half, but have failed to make the most of their set-pieces.

They are having plenty of joy down the wings though, with ex-Dundee United man Gary Mackay-Steven seeing plenty of the ball.

But Dundee have defended well, and could have sneaked a goal themselves through Kharl Madianga, who has twice shot over from distance.

  7. Dons denied againpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Dundee 0-0 Aberdeen

Some more good chances passed up by the Dons just before the break. Graeme Shinnie fires in a left-foot shot, which Stevie May gets in the way of. He tries to make amends by turning and shooting himself, but it's straight at goalkeeper Jack Hamilton.

Then a cross into the box is missed by both May and Niall McGinn.

  8. HALF-TIME Livingston 0-0 Kilmarnockpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

Not the best 45 minutes of football in Livingston. The hosts have had plenty of possession in attacking areas but their end product has been poor.

Kilmarnock have been subdued but did carve out the best chance of the first half when Chris Burke hit the post.

Brendan Rodgers joked before today's early game that Celtic had "brought their strimmers" with them to Tynecastle. But Hearts cut them down to size again.

  10. Missed chance for Donspublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Dundee 0-0 Aberdeen

Sam Cosgrove should have put Aberdeen ahead. Dundee goalkeeper Jack Hamilton's punch clear lands at the feet of Stevie May, who passes across the goal to Cosgrove, but the former Carlisle striker doesn't connect with enough power and Hamilton is able to recover and save.

Shortly before that, Kharl Madianga sized up the Aberdeen goal but shot over.

  11. Livi press for openerpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Livingston 0-0 Kilmarnock

Scott Robinson tries to lift the ball over Jamie MacDonald after latching on to Kenny Miller's header down but the Kilmarnock goalkeeper collects with ease.

Moments later, MacDonald holds a fierce effort from Egli Kaja before Alan Power fires one wide at the other end.

  12. Pitch perfect?published at 15:43 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Livingston 0-0 Kilmarnock

    Jonathan Sutherland
    BBC Sport Scotland at Livingston

Not the easiest game on the eye with both sides experiencing the new Livingston artificial pitch for the first time. Lots of those little black pellets kicking up from the surface.

It does have the feel of a decent contest though, Livingston continuing with their 3-5-2 formation while Kilmarnock are going with good old 4-4-2.

  13. Corners galore at Denspublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Dundee 0-0 Aberdeen

    Jane Lewis
BBC Sport Scotland at Dens Park

It may be 0-0 but this is a good game. The Dons maybe shade it in terms of possession, but Dundee have had more chances. It’s corners galore for Aberdeen - nine so far for the visitors - but they can’t take advantage as yet.

    Dundee 0-0 Aberdeen

Andrew Considine heads just past the post for Aberdeen, then a minute later Dundee's Sofien Moussa should do better when the ball falls to him on the edge of the box, but he hacks at the ball and sends it well over.

    Dundee 0-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

The Aberdeen wide men are going to get a lot of joy today. I don't think the two Dundee full-backs are up to it when a player runs at them one-on-one. And they're getting no help from their midfield because Dundee are playing a diamond.

  19. Want-away Bigirimana goes close for Wellpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Motherwell v Hamilton

    John Barnes
    BBC Scotland at Fir Park

Football has finally broken out a keenly-contested and physical opening quarter. Motherwell have had the best chance so fa with a Gael Bigirimana header from a Chris Cadden cross superbly saved by Accies ‘keeper Gary Woods down low to his left.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson thought Bigirimana was heading back to England before the transfer window closed on Thursday but the fact it didn’t materialise means he started today.

Robinson said: “Gael wanted to go back down south but he hasn’t gone. He’s come back in with a great attitude and he deserves his opportunity.”

Plenty more reaction to Hearts' defeat of Celtic in the lunchtime kick-off...

    Scott: Absolutely FANTASTIC job boys.

Andru: Only positive I can take is there were big improvements from the last time we played them. We would have lost 4-0 last season. Not all doom and gloom.

    Mikey: Coupon busted.

    Shirley: Best team won.
