    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho is not afraid of making the big decisions and he has certainly done that tonight by dropping his two big signings Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.

Can either player have any real complaints?

One thing is for sure - Mourinho will know such a selection increases the pressure on him and Manchester United to get a result.

Man Utd v Arsenal (20:00 GMT)

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Man United have gone to a new low for me, they don't seem to be putting the effort in. They haven't given up but some of them look like they are lost. The team is broken.

Jose doesn't seem to have any tools in his bag (to fix it). He's dumping pressure on players, digging players out and then he is protecting others.

When he first came into English football I was a big fan of how he conducted himself. I don't see that in him now, I see him floundering.

It's a sinking ship and I don't think he knows what to do.

It is more due to the number of defensive absentees at Manchester United, but Matteo Darmian is making his second successive Premier League start tonight.

That hasn't for the Italian international since April 2017.

  5. 'I'm not sure what sort of Southampton we will face'published at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2018

    Tottenham v Southampton (20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino: "After the defeat against Arsenal it's good to have the opportunity to play again soon. I told you that rotation would be key to keep the level in every game.

"It's difficult - the pitch is not easy to play on. It's important to keep the players fresh. It's difficult to guess what will happen with Southampton in the match. When a new manager comes in everything changes."

  7. 'Spurs will look to bounce back like Fury'published at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2018

    Spurs v Southampton (20:00 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton
    BBC MOTD commentator

Three big, intense matches in the space of a week ultimately proved a bit too much for Tottenham, who couldn't follow up memorable home wins over Chelsea and Inter Milan in Sunday's 4-2 defeat at north London rivals Arsenal.

They'll look to bounce straight back up, Tyson Fury-style, against a Southampton side currently without a manager or a league win in 10 matches.

Maybe if they'd hung on to beat Manchester United at the weekend it might have bought Mark Hughes a little more time, but after Monday's sacking it appears Saints already had the former RB Leipzig coach Ralf Hassenhuttl very much in mind.

If Liverpool don't concede tonight, they will set a new record.

The Reds have only conceded five goals in 14 league games this season - no team have conceded fewer than six after 15 matches of a top-flight season.

Victory would give Liverpool their best record after 15 matches of a top-flight season - 12 wins and three draws. Their current best is 12 wins, two draws and a defeat, in 1978-79 and 1990-91.

It's a filthy night in Burnley. The rain is lashing down and the floodlights can be seen from miles around. Ingredients for an upset?

Burnley midfielder Jack Cork tells the Match of the Day cameras at Turf Moor: "We tend to be good in night games at home.

"We have watched a lot of clips of Liverpool over the last couple of days. We need to be aggressive and organised."

  11. 'I am honoured to have known him'published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2018

    Fulham v Leicester (19:45 GMT)

Former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri, who oversaw the Foxes' unlikely Premier League championship victory two years ago, has used his Fulham programme notes to pay tribute to Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Vichai, the former owner of Leicester City, died in a helicopter crash in October.

"I am honoured to have known him. When people refer to Leicester winning the Premier League title in 2016 as a fairy tale, it is the desire, commitment and vision of Vichai and his family that made this fairy tale possible."

  12. Ranieri faces former clubpublished at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2018

    Fulham v Leicester (19:45 GMT)

    Claudio RanieriImage source, .

Claudio Ranieri will face Leicester City for the first time since he was sacked in February 2017, nine months after leading the club to a historic Premier League title.

The Italian has won four of his five Premier League fixtures as a manager against Leicester, with the exception a 2-1 Chelsea defeat at Filbert Street in February 2001.

  13. 'The Ranieri derby'published at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2018

    Fulham v Leicester (19:45 GMT)

    Ian Dennis
    MOTD commentator

Claudio Ranieri was serenaded by Leicester's fans just over three weeks ago on an emotional afternoon in the first match at the King Power stadium since the tragic helicopter crash.

I wouldn't be surprised if the travelling support did so again, as he will be in the opposition dugout for the first time since he was sacked nine months after famously steering Leicester to the Premier League title.

Leicester are on their joint-longest unbeaten run since that remarkable achievement in 2016 and they've also kept three clean sheets in their last four games.

Fulham are the only side yet to keep a clean sheet in English league football this season - but they have not conceded against Leicester in four previous Premier League meetings. How Ranieri's side could do with extending that record on Wednesday night.

  14. Wolves' struggles against Chelseapublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2018

    Wolves v Chelsea (19:45 GMT)

Chelsea have won 10 of their past 11 meetings with Wolves.

The only Wolves win since 1983 was on 5 January 2011 - courtesy of a Jose Bosingwa own goal.

Chelsea have won the last four meetings by an aggregate score of 13-1, including a 2-0 victory at Molineux in the FA Cup fourth round last season.

  15. 'Too many Chelsea players below par'published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2018

    Wolves v Chelsea (19:45 GMT)

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

After their bright start, Wolves are now on their worst run in 20 months. I doubt there's enough squad strength to turn their form around here.

Seven goals in their last nine league and cup games is a paltry return. It could get worse before it gets better for Nuno Espirito Santo, who is enduring his worst run as a coach in over five years.

Chelsea admit they were shell-shocked by the defeat at Tottenham. Two wins have followed but too many players are still below par.

Marcos Alonso has been affected by crowd taunts. N'Golo Kante has been sacrificed to accommodate Jorginho. Willian looks jaded. Alvaro Morata isn't strong enough or aware enough at the moment.

With Manchester City to come at the weekend it will be interesting to see what team Maurizio Sarri picks.

    Everton v Newcastle (19:45 GMT)

    Alistair Mann

It will undoubtedly still hurt but there were certainly a number of positives which Everton can take from their performance at Anfield.

They matched their rivals for long periods, and with better luck at both ends of the field would have taken something from it. Five wins from their last eight games is proof that Marco Silva's vision for his new team is taking shape.

Newcastle also have to eradicate the immediate memory of their Saturday defeat and instead look to the recent improvements prior to it, which has enabled them to gather 10 points from five games.

In reality this is a meeting of two teams who had been on an upward curve before the weekend events occurred.
