Seeing as Ralph Hasenhuttl is known as the 'Klopp of the Alps', you would expect the new Southampton manager to be comfortable with rough weather.

That's certainly what he will get in Cardiff today, with driving rain and howling winds battering the Welsh capital.

He can expect a pretty abrasive welcome from the Cardiff team as well, with Neil Warnock's grafters winning three of their previous four home matches in the Premier League.

Ralph Hasenhuttl was in the stands to see his new side get comprehensively beaten by Tottenham on Wednesday night, and it will be interesting to see what team he picks after spending so little time with his players.

Hasenhuttl will get a reaction, because suddenly everyone is playing for their place now Mark Hughes has left.

But I don't think he will know too much about Cardiff, and I am pretty sure he won't have crossed paths with Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock before.

So this is a case of 'welcome to the Premier League' for Hasenhuttl and this is going to be a tough test for him.

Cardiff have won three of their last four home games, and I can see them getting another victory here.

    Prediction: 2-1

New Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl offered an early glimpse of his engaging personality at his unveiling this week.

Dubbed the 'Klopp of the Alps', the Austrian set about charming the media with analogies involving washing machines, and even one about the Titanic,, externalwhich set sail from the city over 100 years ago.

His fresh approach is already enthusing Saints fans, but the proof will be provided in the crucial weeks ahead.

Many would have predicted Cardiff, rather than Southampton, would occupy a spot in the bottom three at the start of December but, typically, Neil Warnock's side are fighting tough.

The bulk of their points have come at home, where they've clearly found their feet.

New Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will be under no illusions as to the size of the task facing him at St Mary’s after watching the Saints’ defeat to Tottenham from the Wembley stands on Wednesday.

Today, the Austrian takes his new team to the Cardiff City Stadium to face a Bluebirds side who have won three of their last four home Premier League matches to climb out of the bottom three.
