The 'Care, Don't Care. Be a Goalkeeper' initiative from United's shirt sponsors Chevrolet is aimed at inspiring girls to play football.

  2. 'Players have to look at themselves'published at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Paul Ince
Former England midfielder on Football Focus

He changed the system against Arsenal to three at the back and they looked a better team. With no Romelu Lukaku, the attack had more pace. Defensively they are still inept. I looked at the game and thought, ‘was it better?’ Yes. But he still hasn’t found his right formation or top 11 players.

Every mistake Manchester United make, it is directed at Mourinho. The players have to look at themselves. Paul Pogba is not performing the way he should be. They have to take responsibility.

  3. 'Mourinho looks burned out'published at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

Man Utd v Fulham (15:00 GMT)

    Karen Carney
England women's winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Jose Mourinho isn't very patient. If you have one bad game you think 'help me out' but he pushes people away. How can you look for other players to help you out if they're getting flogged in the press and flogged by him? It's a difficult environment. For any player to adapt at Man Utd at the moment is a challenge.

I think he's burned out and tired, he's gone from club to club to club. Pep Guardiola took a break between clubs. Maybe do the Pep thing, rest and reflect and see where the game is going.

  5. How they standpublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

This is how it stands in the Premier League. Liverpool's 4-0 win over Bournemouth in the early game has taken them to the top, but Manchester City will reclaim that place if they get at least a draw at Chelsea later.

It's a wet and grey day in Manchester.

And if Jose Mourinho's team don't beat rock-bottom Fulham here this afternoon, the mood in the stands will match anything in the sky.

This really is a game Mourinho needs to win.

  7. 'Anything other than United win seems improbable'published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

Man Utd v Fulham (15:00 GMT)

    Alistair Mann
    MOTD commentator

Though it's Fulham who are at the bottom, there are many more questions being posed about Manchester United.

Without a win in four and some 18 points behind their city rivals at the top, a much improved display against Arsenal in midweek is still someway off silencing their many critics.

Considering Fulham's appalling away record and equally depressing recent run of results at Old Trafford, anything other than a United win this weekend seems improbable. However, with four points in three games since Claudio Ranieri's arrival, the Cottagers won't have written off their chances.

With low expectations and pivotal games against West Ham, Newcastle, Wolves and Huddersfield to end December, Fulham will be viewing this game as a free hit.

Luke Shaw was on the bench, he isn't any more.

  9. 'Mourinho doesn't seem the same man'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

Man Utd v Fulham (15:00 GMT)

    Steve Sidwell
Brighton coach on BBC Radio 5 live

Jose Mourinho doesn't seem the same man. I saw him at Chelsea during their high. He had a group of 25 players, world stars, big egos, and he had them all in the palm of his hand. He got them all onside, even the ones not in the squad.

He had that personal touch. He just seems a lonely figure now. He seems isolated from everyone. Back in the day, the relationship he had with the players, the board, the fans, the press - now tell me one good relationship he has got.

Romelu Lukaku returns to the starting line-up for Manchester United with Anthony Martial, who has scored seven times in 11 matches, missing out after picking up a hamstring injury during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in midweek.

There are also starts for Phil Jones, Juan Mata and Ashley Young, who wears the captain's armband. Paul Pogba, Fred, Luke Shaw and Marouane Fellaini are among the substitutes.

Manchester United: De Gea, Dalot, Jones, Smalling, Young, Matic, Ander Herrera, Rashford, Mata, Lingard, Lukaku.

Substitutes: Pogba, Rojo, Fred, Romero, Shaw, Fellaini, McTominay.

Some tinkering too from Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri, who makes five changes from the side that started the 1-1 draw versus Leicester on Wednesday.

In come captain Tom Cairney, Tim Ream, Andre Schurrle, Joe Bryan and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Fulham: Sergio Rico, Odoi, Ream, Mawson, Bryan, Seri, Zambo, Schurrle, Cairney, Ryan Sessegnon, Mitrovic.

Substitutes: Bettinelli, Kebano, Johansen, Vietto, Christie, Cisse, Kamara.

  12. Worrying timespublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

These are worrying times at Manchester United.

Already 19 points off leaders Liverpool, eighth in the table and without a league win in four matches.

Jose Mourinho will get more criticism coming his way if his side fail to beat bottom-of-the-table Fulham at home today.
