Jose Mourinho has the look of a man who cannot quite believe what he is seeing. He is statuesque at the edge of his technical area. From time to time, he points something out, but I am not convinced his players are listening.

Chance! No buses being parked just yet, it's a very open game, especially in midfield. Roberto Firmino has all sorts of space in front of the United back five, he runs to the edge of the area and gets a low drive in, David de Gea has to go full stretch to tip it away with his left hand. A good save, if one you'd expect him to make. From the follow up Mo Salah ends up on the turf, no real penalty shout though.

Marcus Rashford then shoots from range at the other end but it's easy for Alisson.

A very 'English' start to this game with both sides threatening from set-pieces. Liverpool win a corner which is headed wide by Roberto Firmino in the middle of a scrum of players around the penalty spot.
