Dharma: Now THAT was a Manchester United goal!!!

    Shuga: The shackles are off!

LifeIsAnMeme: And that's how you respond! This is so great to see, entertaining and attacking football is back again

They're so difficult to stop. It's the one and two-touch football by United and the awareness of the runners. Martial still has a bit to do but just passes it into the bottom corner.

You wanted Cardiff to take the sting out of the game but they couldn't do that because they can't get hold of the ball.

The rotation and movement by Man United was superb.

    Anthony Martial

It's the hope that kills you, isn't it Cardiff fans?

Absolutely quality from Manchester United. Some wonderful one-touch football opens up Cardiff like a deck of cards, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba are involved before the former's pass put through Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman slaloms into the box and confidently slots low into the bottom left corner.

Fair to say that's divided opinion... Marcus Rashford didn't need to drop his arm towards the ball and cloud the linesman's judgement to be honest.

Harrison: That’s a really really poor decision. Never a handball

DeathApeDisco: That's shoulder, that's allowed isn't it? Very odd decision.

Ash: A lapse in concentration by Rashford and ultimately punished with the penalty. Great finish too!

    Victor Camarasa

Game on! One word for this penalty... emphatic. Victor Camarasa hammers the ball into the top left-hand corner. Even David de Gea couldn't save that one. Neither could Clark Kent.

And this could be it... Marcus Rashford is penalised for handball. Victor Camarasa stands over the ball...

And United win another corner after Paul Pogba tries to take on Aron Gunnarsson. It comes to nothing.

Ander Herrera has a touch out of his feet, takes a look then just hits it.

But it hits Greg Cunningham, it's going over, then dips past Neil Etheridge.

Great celebration from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. A bit like Bill Murray's Ernie McCracken in Kingpin. Knees bent, arms thrust backwards past his side.

    Ander Herrera

Where has that come from? Another belter puts Manchester United in command.

Paul Pogba plays a square ball to Ander Herrera, no danger there it seems. But Cardiff stand off, allow the Spain international to carry the ball and then crack a 20-yard strike into the top right corner.

Again, a deflection helps carry the ball out of Neil Etheridge's hands.

Some tackles flying in. Sol Bamba starts it with a meaty (but fair) challenge on Marcus Rashford, who is understandably riled and seeks retribution on Greg Cunningham.

Babyboomer: It would be wise to not get too carried away - Cardiff don't look any better than Fulham, & United put 4 past them with Jose in charge.

Nick: United don't look massively different for me so far, they've played like this under Mourinho plenty of time. Consistently playing positively, against the top clubs too, will be the key indicator of change

  17. 'Wide, wide'published at 27 mins

    Cardiff 0-1 Man Utd

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at Cardiff City Stadium

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is screaming at his midfield to get the ball wider and introduce more width to Manchester United's play.

Full-backs Ashley Young and Luke Shaw have both been getting forward, so it seems fairly evident what the visitors' game plan is.

The wider the pitch, the more room there is to play.

The subsequent corner ends up at Phil Jones' feet, probably exactly where Cardiff don't mind it being. He can't test Neil Etheridge and the home side survive.

Cardiff fans aren't happy with something. Neither, you won't be surprised to hear, is Neil Warnock. Not exactly sure why...

Anyway, United free-kick on the left... swung in by Ashley Young and headed clear by Sol Bamba.

  20. United's quick feetpublished at 23 mins

    Cardiff 0-1 Man Utd

    BBC Radio Wales
    Former Cardiff defender Jason Perry

United are playing one and two-touch football. Cardiff are keeping their shape well, 4-1-4-1, with the wide men doubling up to help the full-backs.

But whenever they close a United man down they can't get near the ball because they're moving it so quickly.
