But the centre-back is only focused on playing the ball up to Callum Paterson, not looking left and seeing Josh Murphy in acres of space.

Instead he finds Nemanja Matic. Cue groans.

Manchester United are looking sharper and hungrier than we saw under Jose Mourinho. Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard are very much in thick of things in the centre of the park.

But then Lingard is dispossessed and Cardiff break...

Neil Warnock has the face of a man who has just found out his partner's Christmas present isn't gong to be delivered in time. Pensive, with a hint of anger.

His side have held their own so far, Marcus Rashford's moment of magic (possibly with the help of a deflection) proving the difference.

Luke Shaw and Callum Paterson are both stood on the touchline, shaking hands before going back on. Back under way.

Still play has stopped while Callum Paterson is tended to by the Cardiff medical staff. He will be fine to continue but just needs a moment or two.

Both need some treatment, but it doesn't look too serious. Shaw is up to his feet first, while Paterson has an ice pack on his forehead.

Imagine it is a similar feeling to how I felt after the office Christmas party.

Nice change of feet and change of pace from Josh Murphy on the left flank. It helps him beat Ashley Young with ease, drilling in a low left-footed cross which Phil Jones belts into touch. 'Ave it!

Eventually that patient, confident play leads to a corner for the visitors. Ashley Young gives the signal, knocking it into the mixer. Sol Bamba is ready and waiting though, heading away the danger.

Completely different look to Manchester United. They are knocking the ball around confidently in midfield, trying to pick holes in Cardiff's shape.

Over the bar. Josh Murphy can't do what Marcus Rashford did, instead finding Row J.

Cracking atmosphere in Cardiff. The type of one which gets the adrenaline pumping and the hairs on the back of your neck standing up.

The home fans are trying to rally their troops after that early blow and Cardiff have a free-kick in about the same position from where Rashford scored...
