The danger Liverpool have is the counter-attacking of their front three. Manchester City are a little bit fragile at the moment, especially in the full-back areas.

It's a must-win game, City have to win. It's almost a cup final. 10 points for Liverpool at this stage would be too much.

Manchester City must come out and control this game from the off.

Jonathan Bradshaw: I’m sitting here in freezing Oklahoma and my 45 min flight to Dallas departs at 2.03pm local time (8.03pm UK). This hasn’t been the best planned trip. Liverpool 3-0 by the time I land?

Gregory Skulnick: Prediction: Liverpool walk on, through the wind, walk on, through the rain, whilst Walker's left looking for Laporte in the storm.

Guv: This game has bore draw written all over it - and I still cannot wait. Gotta love the premier league.

It's a massive fixture. Because it's Liverpool, Pep Guardiola's side will need to win. The Reds, on the other hand, will be happy with the win or draw.

Of course, they won't play for the draw, but a point will make City's attempt to close the seven-point gap a lot more difficult.

These two teams will have massive respect for each other's attack, and because of that I think this will be a stalemate.

    Prediction: 1-1

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "It's a normal game against Manchester City. A very difficult one.

"They are a really strong football team with an outstanding manager. We have to be brave and full of desire, same as all of the other games. For me, they are the best team in the world.

"People say we go there most likely to win. It's not true. It's not reality."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on Liverpool: "The reality is clear. We are seven points down. This will be the second game of the second leg so there are a lot of points to play for.

"It is a big opportunity for us to reduce the gap. Our focus is the same.

"Everybody has been asking what will happen if we lose. We are going to try to make our game, to be there and be fighting for the Premier League for as far as possible."

Man City v Liverpool (20:00 GMT)

    John Murray
    BBC football correspondent

The first Thursday in January feels almost indecently early to be talking "title decider".

Even the recent history between these two clubs teaches us a lesson in not going too early. On 20 April 2014 Liverpool led Manchester City by nine points. Twenty one days later, City won the title.

While they've scored a combined total of 136 league and cup goals between them this season, at Anfield in October it was over an hour before anyone had an attempt on target.

It will surely be different tonight though, and at 10 o'clock we can see what the league table looks like.

Newcastle had a massive point advantage once and lost it, Liverpool have been in this position before, there are a lot of games to be played. Injuries, suspensions could come into it.

Liverpool are in the driving seat, but even if they win tonight I wouldn't write City off and I wouldn't write Tottenham off.

If there's one game that should spark plenty of debate it's this one.

So is this the decider? Lose tonight and it's game over for City?

Or is a home win tonight the neutral's choice for a better title race...?

The closest Anfield has come to celebrating a Premier League title. So far.

A generation and a half have since seen Manchester United dominate English football again, the growth of Chelsea and of Manchester City, the rise and fall of Arsene Wenger and even miracle wins for Blackburn and for Leicester.

They've seen Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez and Heskey come close but not close enough.

They've seen Rafa and Houllier fall by the wayside, Brendan burn out and Gerrard's slip.
