On Manchester United's form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "I don't put it down to tactics at all, I put it down to a happiness that he's brought to the club.

"He's already got good players at his disposal. He's put a lot of faith in Marcus Rashford and he's been rewarded by a goal return and some top displays. In midfield, Paul Pogba is making runs into the box consistently.

"They knock the ball round a bit quicker, they take a few more risks and they're a bit more expressive - it's a lot closer to the Manchester United we're used to seeing."

Manchester United should remember the cautionary tale of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and Roberto di Matteo.

The Italian succeeded Andre Villas-Boas with Chelsea on their knees in March 2012 and in two months had won the FA Cup and the trophy the Russian wanted most of all - the Champions League.

It was the greatest interim manager audition in history. Abramovich never seemed convinced but was in a corner.

He eventually gave Di Matteo, a manager of modest previous attainments, a two-year deal. He was sacked in November and has since reverted to modest mode.

Graham Wright: what's going on with the Kick Off times today? Is this a sneaky plan from the tv companies to slowly move the matches to 2.15 and 4.30 without anyone noticing?

A good question. And I don't know the answer.

I'm excited, it's set up to be a great game. Manchester United are in a much better position than when the sides met at the start of the season.

All eyes are on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and what his style is going to be as a manager. We knew he would put smiles on people's faces but these are the games where you need to be more tactically aware.

This will give us that insight.

Callum Wilson's injury means that Joshua King may need to step up.

He is without a goal in his last 8 Premier League appearances. However, he's been directly involved in more league goals vs Everton than he has against any other side (four goals, three assists).

Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson has been on the losing side in 14 of the Premier League games in which he’s scored since his debut in January 2012, including three this term. Only Romelu Lukaku (15) has scored in a higher number of defeats in that time.

Sigurdsson starts in his preferred position behind the striker, flanked by Ademola Lookman and Bernard this afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino has had Spurs punching above their weight for more than two seasons and the question that must be in his mind is how long can he keep doing it? And how long will the Spurs hierarchy expect him to keep doing it?

He could be the next Manchester United manager. He could be the next Real Madrid manager. If Daniel Levy wants to keep Pochettino then there's going to be some very difficult discussions over the next few months.

If Pochettino is going to stay at Spurs then a; they're going to have to get the new stadium open as quickly as possible and b; they have to open the purse strings and give him some money to spend.

Tottenham v Man Utd (16:30 GMT)

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can prove this is a serious rejuvenation by fashioning a result at Spurs - a team still right in contention for the Premier League title, and handsome winners at Old Trafford in August - then all the positivity might actually acquire substance.

And Solskjaer has the opportunity to strike a real blow for his profile if he can outmanoeuvre Mauricio Pochettino, the favourite to be the next manager at Old Trafford, on Sunday.

The odds, however, must still be on United going for an experienced manager of proven quality rather than a personality, no matter how engaging or ingrained in the foundations of Old Trafford he might be.

And don't forget Solskjaer, effectively on loan from Norwegian club Molde, failed miserably in his previous experience in the Premier League.

That was at Cardiff, where he won only five of 25 league games over an eight-month period in which he oversaw relegation and was sacked in September 2014 with the Bluebirds 17th in the Championship.

  14. 'It feels like a big clash'published at 13:20 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2019

Tottenham v Man United (16:30 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

Wembley's going to have a higher capacity today and it feels like a big clash. You've got to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer some credit for that. Five or six weeks ago Tottenham against Manchester United would have felt big but I don't think it would have felt like this.

It's been five games that Manchester United should win routinely, and they have, but it's not just about that, it's the way they've gone about it, the fact a couple of kids have been chucked in there to get some playing time and the way they've approached the games has been so refreshing.

That's where Solskjaer has earned his plaudits - and rightly so.

    Everton team

Ademola Lookman makes just his second league start of the season for Everton today against Bournemouth.

He comes in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in one of three changes from The Toffees' last league game.

The others see Bernard replace Theo Walcott and Seamus Coleman come in for Jonjoe Kenny.

    Bournemouth team

Bournemouth are without top scorer Callum Wilson. He has been struggling with injury and has not made the squad.

Nathaniel Clyne makes his league debut in place of Charlie Daniels. Adam Smith replaces Wilson.

There had been doubts around Joshua King and Ryan Fraser but they are both fit.

Bournemouth: Begovic (GK), Cook, Gosling, Ake, Lerma, Smith, King, Stanislas, Brooks, Clyne, Fraser.

Subs: Boruc (GK), Surman, Mousset, Ibe, Daniels, Rico, Simpson.

    West Ham United

Everyone at West Ham knows forward Marko Arnautovic wants to leave for a Chinese club, says team-mate Michail Antonio.

The Hammers have received a £35m bid for the Austrian forward , 29, from an unnamed side in China.

Antonio said "talisman" Arnautovic would be "truly missed" but added the issue had not affected the West Ham dressing room.

"Everyone knows Marko wants to go," Hammers forward Antonio said.

When I look at West Ham I really like the squad they are getting together and the way Pellegrini is getting them to play; everything is positive. You don’t want a player that does not want to be there.

If Marko Arnautovic is intent on leaving then let him go, use the money and bring in someone that wants to be there.

He has been very good for them but he strikes me as a player that can make things go the other way as he is very powerful in the dressing room.
