  1. CLOSE!published at 8 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

It's all Arsenal and that should be 1-0. Aubameyang has already missed a good chance and so too, now, has Sokratis.

The Gunners go short with a corner and it is then swung to the back post, Sokratis has got clear of marker Mateo Kovacic and heads at goal. He should hit the target but puts it wide.

Big Gray: Auba building up a catalogue of misses. Too many for my liking.

Ash Williams: Jorginho is too slow to play in games where Chelsea get pressed. No wonder he seemed so suited to Italian football.

Khan Karn: What a miss by Aubameyang, Arsenal’s season dependent on this, lose this and i hope the fans realised it’s the club and not Wenger’s fault.

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Granit Xhaka gets away with a blatant pull-back on N'Golo Kante and is lucky to not see yellow.

The Gunners then have a chance with Alexandre Lacazette crossing low from the right for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but he can't get a good connection and the chance is wasted.

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

A very bright start from the hosts, who are six points adrift of that fourth-place which Chelsea occupy. A home defeat today and Champions League qualification would already look a long way off.

Loose instantly from David Luiz, who holds his hands up in apology. He gives it straight to Aaron Ramsey, on the edge of the penalty area, but Luiz's team-mates get the Brazilian out of trouble.

  8. 'Emery has not had time to adapt his team'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England and Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

I think people are forgetting the troubles Arsenal have been through. They lost Rob Holding - their best centre-half, they didn't have Laurent Koscielny, their leader, so at times they had to play Granit Xhaka further back.

I didn't see Arsenal being where they are now. Unai Emery - with not really his team - has not had the time to adapt this team to his liking.

  9. Same old story for Arsenal?published at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

Arsenal need to strengthen at the back otherwise it is going to be the same old story, and they are just going to be fighting for fifth.

Manchester United's run means they are back in the race for the top four and it could be even closer after this weekend.

I am expecting United to beat Brighton and if Arsenal beat Chelsea too, then there will only be three points separating the three teams.

We are also not sure how Tottenham will get on without the injured Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, who is away with South Korea at the Asian Cup, so the next few weeks are going to be very interesting.

Chelsea players once again dominate your combined XI with Arsenal as the sides prepare to meet at Emirates Stadium.

You selected eight Blues players before the previous Premier League meeting in August - and though there are a few alterations, a clear preference for individuals from the Stamford Bridge side remains.

Here's how your final XI looks...

Lee Sykes: Worried for Chelsea as can see us doing it without a striker against a better Arsenal team then we played in August.

Nick Mottram: Seven defensive players and only three attacking players only works when one of your front three is world class. Arsenal need Ramsey in that midfield three; teams are working us out, and we are becoming more & more ineffective going forward.

Rezaa Sait: Big mistake leaving Iwobi and Mustafi on the bench.though Mustafi has been poor, surely a better choice than an aging Koscielny.

If you’re giving someone a rumoured £300,000 a week he has to be involved, whether that’s coming off the bench or starting. He’s a luxury player, does Emery want that? I don’t know. On his day he is world class.

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

Both clubs are in a perplexing state. Arsenal fans, so keen to get rid of Arsene Wenger, may now be realising that he had been shackled by the owner's frugal spending policy.

Unai Emery needs financial backing to push through his evolution. New central defenders are a must.

The club also need to resolve the future of Mesut Ozil and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, , externalwho is a much sought-after asset. Men like him are essential.

'Sarri-ball' , externalhas looked increasingly sterile in Chelsea's last 11 league matches. Goals have dried up. Eden Hazard hasn't been firing consistently and doesn't look fully fit.

They do have a great record against Arsenal but the power of the home attack may swing this.

Sulaimon Adelekan: I'm impressed with the Arsenal's starting XI, good to see Ramsey in the team and Ozil on the bench but beware of Eden Hazard.

BEZALEEL ADEWUMI: There's no English player in the Chelsea starting line up against Arsenal. There's cause for concern here.

There's not one in the Arsenal side either. Ainsley-Maitland Niles is their only Englishman in their 18 with Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi among the substitute options for Chelsea.

  17. Emery wants 'consistent' Ozilpublished at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

So Ramsey gets the nod tonight over Mesut Ozil and Arsenal head coach Unai Emery says he is "not thinking" about Ozil leaving the club, although he wants more consistency from the German midfielder.

Ozil, 30, the club's highest-paid player, was not included in last week's squad for the 1-0 defeat by West Ham and is only on the bench today.

Emery said: "I've spoken to him because I want consistency. He's had some injuries and these injuries mean that sometimes he is OK and sometimes he isn't OK. I want every player to give the same work every day to be OK for every match.

"With Mesut it's the same. He didn't play the last matches but to me he's just like any other player."

    Jermaine Jenas

Aaron Ramsey makes Arsenal better, but we don't know the intricacies of what money he's asked for. He might be thinking with Ozil and Mkhitaryan on the salary they're on, and say, 'I've been here longer and done more for the team'.

They might be thinking that they can't warrant to give him more because of his injuries and the time he's been sidelined.
