Kyle: It was cruel because they scored in the last minute but it was a deserved win Spurs played the better football and had the better chances. Great character shown from an under strength Spurs side.

Chris Collins: Fulham’s defence caught having forty Winks there...

David Howell: With Arsenal/United resurgent and Kane/Alli injured, I wouldn't be shocked if Spurs ended up needing those two points from that winner just to stay in the top four when all is said and done.

Is this the beginning of the end for Maurizio Sarri? Once you start calling your players out, as he's done, it doesn't bode well does it. We've always had a pop at Jose Mourinho for this.

  8. 'Hope for January deals'published at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2019

    Fulham 1-2 Tottenham

    Fulham

Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri speaking to BBC Sport: "In the first half we were fantastic. We scored and should have had a penalty but the referee didn't give it.

"In the second half we recovered well (from Tottenham's first goal) but in the end we took a free-kick into the box. Why? We should have taken the ball into the corner.

"It was a lack of experience, but Tottenham have a lot of experience. It was a bad moment for us but we are alive and we will continue to fight.

"The performance was fantastic, but we lost the match just through experience, that's it. We played well and sooner or later we will find our way.

"We have to continue to believe. Now we have to stay together and I hope other players arrive to help us."

On Ryan Babel's debut: "He had a fantastic first half but has come from a winter break so I think in one month he will be ready for 90 minutes."

That's 11 wins from 13 away games this season for Spurs, the best away record in the league.

They are doing all they can to hang on to the runaway two at the top and now have 51 points.

After 23 games, they've hit a half century a game quicker than ever before in the Premier League.

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino to BBC Sport: ”It was an unbelievable finish. That's why it is so important to believe.

"The action is brilliant from Harry Winks, to recover the ball from a difficult position, he believes to score and arrive in the box. It was an amazing cross from Nkoudou.

"Sometimes in football, it is not tactics or formation, you have to believe.

“Some injuries appear in a period with a more busy schedule and another opportunity opens the door for players not consistently in the starting XI or on the bench. It is great opportunity for different players to show quality."

On Alli's injury: "It is in the left hamstring, I hope it is not a massive problem, but we will need to assess."

  13. 'Hard to lift a dressing room'published at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2019

    Fulham 1-2 Tottenham

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England and Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

I thought Fulham were causing Spurs some problems from an offensive point of view so did they stick a bit too soon? Did they just think 'let's drop in and hope and pray we can hang onto this'?

Could the goalkeeper have helped them out a bit more, if he was in a better starting position and a bit further out, because Winks headed it inside the six-yard box?

It's going to be hard for Ranieri in that dressing room to pick them up and show them just how much they put into this game and how much more they deserved because it's horrible when it happens to you.

It's a more organised Fulham side and if he gets the balance right then in the latter stage of the season they might pick up some wins.

I feel so sorry for Fulham though. It's devastating for them.

They played very well against a top Spurs side. This is the type of performance you wanted from Fulham. They did so well but just couldn't do it. Once again it's conceding goals and seeing games out. Maybe they were a bit too open.

When you look at the gap, how will they recover from this? That is football though. The fine lines can be very cruel.
