    Arsenal 0-1 Man City

Looking at replays of the goal, the finish from Raheem Sterling is almost in the middle of the goal, it initially looked like the corner.

Pert Cech doesn't dive for it and it was an easy save if he did.

    Maybe he was unsighted.

Sho: Awful defending and for some reason Cech just left it even though it wasn't in the corner.......

Lewis Starks: Where was that at the World Cup? Classic.

Daniel, Manchester: Sterling showing the quality he's got, excellent finish. City in control.

  5. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Arsenal 0-1 Man City

    Nearly a quickfire second.

Benjamin Mendy zooms past Mesut Ozil down the left, the German ain't going to track back from there is he?

Mendy flashes a low cross towards the front post which Petr Cech has to keep out.

    It nearly snuck in.

It's brilliant from Raheem Sterling. He's looked so sharp in this opening 15 minutes. He breezes past Bellerin but still has lots of work to do. He picks out the bottom corner past Cech with ease. Just what City deserve.

    Raheem Sterling

    Man City

Pick that out, what a strike.

City had been threatening in the last few minutes and gets the breakthrough, in wonderful fashion.

Raheem Sterling drifts past Hector Bellerin, who does not put a challenge in, manages to evade Matteo Guendouzi's tackle before drilling a low shot into the bottom corner.

Sterling celebrates by putting his finger to his ear, that will shut the critics up for a few minutes.

City tore Chelsea apart last week. Quicker, fitter, stronger. You wouldn't expect them to be anything other than ferociously confident today and that's exactly how they've started.

    Arsenal 0-0 Man City

    Almost the opening.

Raheem Sterling weaves left and right, making mincemeat of Shkodran Mustafi, and thumps a left-footed strike from eight yards out towards the front post, but Petr Cech won't be beaten from there.

A good stop from the Arsenal goalkeeper because the shot had plenty of venom in it.

Sakub Sheikh: Wishing Unai Emery and Arsenal all the best this season. We need to be patient with our new leader. Should be an exciting game today.

Anukram Adikhary: Yes, Manchester City were miles ahead of every other team in the last season. But to suggest like Lawrenson has that they will finish miles ahead again this season, it’s a little immature I think. They don’t start the season 10 points ahead, do they?

Geoff Russell: Arsenal fans complaining already, let's get behind the manager and the team and enjoy this new season, whatever today's outcome

Unai Emery is on his feet. You just feel the first 20 minutes are so important. Don't let Man City dictate. Don't let them take the lead. They need to show real intensity and not shatter the optimism you can feel from the stands.
