An Irish defender just hoofs the ball out for a throw-in under no pressure.

I wondered if Martin O'Neill would try to make 11 changes - but instead he makes none.

    Wales 3-0 Republic of Ireland

    Nathan Blake
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

Some of the football we have played in the first half has been sublime, the passing and pace, Ireland have just had no answer to it.

Ryan Giggs will be delighted, Wales have defended as a team, everyone knows their job and on the break they can't contain us at all.

  5. 'Ireland are playing scared'published at 20:48 British Summer Time 6 September 2018

    Wales 3-0 Republic of Ireland

    Conor McNamara
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

Wales have played very well. I don't think they can play any better, but even so, the Republic of Ireland have not threatened and they are playing scared.

There's been so many different jokes on Twitter about this Irish performance and futsal that there's probably no original ones left for me to make.

    Wales 3-0 Republic of Ireland

Fun fact, Ethan Ampadu's dad Kwame won four caps for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s in the late 80s/early 90s.

OK, it wasn't that fun really.

  8. Postpublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 6 September 2018

Was just thinking about how good Ethan Ampadu's been. It's a shame that he'll probably only get about eight games this season for Chelsea.

Ryan: Ethan Ampadu reminding us Exeter City fans that Chelsea were literally gifted a hugely talented youngster that we invested in for years.

Simon: Half Time will be like Star Trek 9. "The Wrath of Keane"

Dave: Shame we didn’t do this to Ireland in the World Cup qualifying game

    Wales 3-0 Republic of Ireland

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 live

The game is done for me. Wales have been totally dominant and Gareth Bale has set the tone right from the kick off with his energy and willingness to close Ireland down. It has been brilliant to watch and Ryan Giggs will be delighted. These players have no fear and the balance has been spot on.

    Wales 3-0 Republic of Ireland

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Roy Keane has just got out of his seat for this first time this half and I fear for Ireland's central midfielders Conor Hourihane and Jeff Hendrick at the interval.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 6 September 2018

    Wales 3-0 Republic of Ireland

It's half-time. A very, very good team are beating a very, very bad team 3-0 at the break.

There's going to be more goals in the second half if it continues like this - and they won't be to the Irish...

Aaron Ramsey is almost able to keep a long ball in play but luckily for the Irish it's out for a goal-kick.

    Two minutes added on.

This is the best I've seen Wales play in a long time. The young lads are running themselves into the ground and the experienced talent are pulling the strings. Excellent balance and exciting football

The Republic have conceded eight goals now in their last one and a half competitive games. Gareth Bale is flagged offside as he gets in behind the Irish defence again.

Republic forward Callum O'Dowda crosses the ball straight out of play. I wonder if Martin O'Neill can make 11 subs at half-time.
