It's been a long day and now we know six of teams who will be in tomorrow's draw for the Scottish League quarter-finals.

Ayr are the only non-Premiership side so far through to the last eight after their surprisingly convincing win over Dundee.

Aberdeen, Hearts and St Johnstone will be there along with holders Celtic and last season's runners-up, Motherwell.

The full line-up will be completed tomorrow as Steven Gerrard is re-united with his former Liverpool coach, Steve Clarke, as the latter's Kilmarnock host Rangers.

Meanwhile, Hibs are at home to a Ross County side keen to join Championship rivals Ayr in the next round.

Peterhead go top of League Two, with evergreen striker Rory McAllister scoring the only goal against Clyde, who slip off the top all the way down to fifth.

Annan, who beat Queen's Park 3-1, and Elgin, 1-0 winners away to Albion Rovers, are just behind on goal difference.

Cowdenbeath, who only retained their place in League Two last season via the play-offs, thumped Berwick Rangers 4-0.

Livingston player-manager Kenny Miller tells BBC Scotland: "There's not much in that game and, from what I've seen so far from teams in this league, we'll have a lot of games like that.

"There's a lot of positives to take from the game.

"We need a bit more creativity at the other end of the pitch. A bit of cuteness.

"We'll probably have one in early next week. We're always looking at where we can improve and we are looking at that top end of the pitch."

Arbroath remain top of League Two despite being held to a 1-1 draw away to Dumbarton.

Airdrieonians are up to second after coming from behind to beat Stenhousemuir 2-1 away from home despite playing most of the match with 10 men.

Pre-season favourites Raith Rovers slip to fourth after being held at home in their derby with East Fife.

Are Kyle Lafferty's actions at the final whistle an indication that he is leaving Hearts for Rangers?

The Northern Ireland striker, who has already been the subject of a failed bid from his former club, handed his shirt and other bits of bobs to the fans.

Asked for his thoughts, team-mate Steven Naismith, who has also played alongside Lafferty at Ibrox and Norwich City, told BBC Scotland: "I've been with Kyle long enough and he's said it is his last game and he turns up a month later. If he moves on, he moves on."

Hearts forward Steven Naismith was relieved to have survived a stiff test away to Dunfermline.

"It is good to win this kind of way when the going gets tough," he told BBC Scotland. "Overall, we ground it out.

"Having played with Allan Johnston, I knew his team would play good football."

Dundee manager Neil McCann tells BBC Scotland: "To be honest, 3-0 probably flattered us. It's not often in management, even playing, that so many fundamental things go wrong.

"We've played well in the first two games. The puzzling thing for me is we've prepared well this week, we had a clear game plan.

"I'm very angry about that [Sofien Moussa's red card]. We've had words, those words will remain in the dressing-room and then, at the end, Genseric [Kusunga] has just lost all his composure.

"The players should all be speaking to each other because that is not acceptable for this club. I won't accept it and the supporters won't accept it."

It is all over in Dumfries and St Johnstone progress with a clinical 30 minutes of extra time.

The Perth side were second best to their Championship hosts for much of the game, but it is the top-flight outfit who will be in tomorrow's draw.

Ayr United manager Ian McCall tells BBC Scotland: "We should have been a couple up at half-time and you wonder if that will come back to haunt you, but we went out and performed in the second half.

"Lawrence Shankland should have had a hat-trick, he hit the bar with a header. In the second half, we were excellent.

"I feel for Neil McCann because one of his players let him down [Sofien Moussa], it was just daft, crazy stuff.

"He could have been off before that and I heard Neil say'you're on a yellow, you're on a yellow'."

Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston tells BBC Scotland: "I'm proud of the players today, I thought that was an excellent performance.

"They gave everything they've got, so unlucky to get beat.

"We defended really well, looked a threat going forward and it's hard to take when you get beat like that.

"There's a lot to be proud of, especially how the boys performed against a top Premiership team."

Three great saves from Zdenek Zlamal ensure that Hearts progress to the League Cup quarter-finals.

However, although the Pars edged the first half, Craig Levein's Premiership visitors just about deserved to go through against their Championship hosts on the strength of their second-half display.
