    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Hearts

    Allan Preston
BBC Scotland summariser at East End Park

    Quote Message

Dunfermline are resorting to long balls, which Souttar and Haring are dealing with comfortably. Hearts are starting to pass the ball and get a lot more possession as they look to try and break the Pars down

  2. 'I would be doing my nut'published at 16:21 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

Queen of the South 1-1 St Johnstone

    Derek Ferguson
    Former Rangers and Hamilton midfielder

    Quote Message

It's maybe why I'm not a manager. Tommy Wright is looking calm when I would be doing my nut. St Johnstone look like they are just going through the motions

  3. Wright stuff from Aberdeenpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Aberdeen 4-0 St Mirren

It is brilliant football from Aberdeen. Scott Wright drifts by three players but drags his shot wide. He is desperate to get in on the act this afternoon after being given a rare start by manager Derek McInnes.

  4. Subdued startpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

Queen of the South 1-1 St Johnstone

    Liam Hamilton
BBC Sport Scotland at McDiarmid Park

A more subdued start to the second half as both teams seem to be cancelling other out. Neither is creating anything beyond half chances and at a much slower pace than the first half.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Livingston 0-1 Motherwell

    Kenny Crawford
    BBC Sport Scotland at Almondvale

Motherwell substitute Allan Campbell nearly extends the visitors' lead with a neat bit of skill before unleashing a low drive that rebounds back off the foot of the post.

  6. Pitch not perfect?published at 16:17 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Livingston 0-1 Motherwell

The new artificial pitch at Livingston is showing the effects of the game.

  7. goal

GOAL Aberdeen 4-0 St Mirrenpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Gary Mackay-Steven (penalty)

Gary Mackay-Steven is one goal away from his second hat-trick in an Aberdeen shirt. He wins the penalty after being tripped on the edge of the box. Craig Samson guesses the right way for the spot kick, but Mackay-Steven has too much power behind it.

  8. CLOSE!published at 16:13 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Hearts

After striking the post in the first half, Faissal El Bahktaoui causes more problems for Hearts as he links neatly with his midfielders before heading narrowly over the crossbar.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:09 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Aberdeen 3-0 St Mirren

A fantastic save from Craig Samson denies Scott Wright a fourth for Aberdeen.

Stevie May's back-heel sends Wright on a run, his path takes him past the defender, but Samson manages to block his goalbound effort.

  10. goal

GOAL Dundee 0-1 Ayr Unitedpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Lawrence Shankland

Dundee can't say they haven't been warned. They've given Lawrence Shankland too many chances already this afternoon and this time he punishes them.

It's a straight ball through the heart of the defence, the striker controls it with his chest and smashes it with his left foot past Jack Hamilton.

Any Dundee interest in the former Aberdeen striker may not go away after today.

  11. Mulraney 'going backwards'published at 16:08 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Hearts

    Allan Preston
    BBC Scotland summariser

    Quote Message

Every time Mulraney goes back towards his defence, he causes his own team all sorts of problems. Slack pass, he almost lets Dunfermline in again

  12. Bozanic on for Hughespublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Hearts

A change for Hearts at half-time. Australian midfielder Oliver Bozanic is on for Aaron Hughes, meaning Peter Haring will move back into central defence.

  13. Kallman makes his debutpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Dundee 0-0 Ayr United

New loan signing Benjamin Kallman has come on as Dundee look to make the breakthrough. He replaces Craig Wighton up front.

  14. Ikpeazu 'must do better'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Hearts

    Allan Preston
    BBC Scotland summariser

    Quote Message

Hearts have got to do better, especially Ikpeazu up front. He's been poor and I think Craig Levein will have had a few choice words with him. He's not held the ball in, he's not linked up at all, and he can do a lot better

  15. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

They have been off and running at Livingston for several minutes. Maybe they are trying to make up for that power failure that forced their under-20's Challenge Cup game to be abandoned in midweek.

Now the rest of the League Cup ties are into the second half.

As it stands, three of the five games are heading for extra-time and the possibility of penalties.

  16. Aberdeen terrorising St Mirrenpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    HT: Aberdeen 3-0 St Mirren

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Derek McInnes has employed the old dinosaur tactics by getting at the visitors early

  18. Well in controlpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    HT: Livingston 0-1 Motherwell

    Kenny Crawford
    BBC Sport Scotland at Almondvale

Still another 45 minutes to go (at least!), but I think Motherwell look formidable here.

Curtis Main and Danny Johnson are clicking up front and look hungry for more goals. Elliott Frear is a pest down the left for all the right reasons.

Livingston definitely have moments when they pull off the neat passing moves up front, with Kenny Miller normally at the heart of them, but the Lions fell away from things a little in the last 10 minutes of the first half.

  19. HALF-TIME Queen of the South 1-1 St Johnstonepublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

Saints took a rather fortunate lead through Tony Watt, the Scotland striker grabbing his third of the season.

But the Championship outfit have been the better team and thoroughly deserved their equaliser on the stroke of half-time from Lyndon Dykes.

  20. HALF-TIME Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Heartspublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

An entertaining - but goalless - 45 minutes of football draws to a close in Fife. It's been end-to-end fare, with both teams playing neat attacking football carving out chances.

The best of the opportunities came to the Pars' Faissal El Bakhtaoui, whose low effort across the face of goal struck the post and bounced clear.

Remarkably, there has still to be a shot on target - a statistic that will surely change after the interval.
