    Quote Message

Thistle are getting into good positions higher up the pitch. Just an extra pass, wait for the moment - they're trying to rush the passes and it's breaking down on them. A little bit more control would be good for them

Another clever turn from Mikey Johnston and the Celtic striker finds himself clear deep inside the Thistle penalty box, but his shot from a difficult angle is straight at goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

    Quote Message

Thistle will look to break, get up there and support Doolan. I'm just a bit worried about Ntcham's defensive qualities - I think it's cost Celtic in Europe a few times as well. From a defensive midfield player, he's got to assess the danger earlier

Celtic’s opening goal was celebrated by Celtic fans throwing flares on to the park. The restart was held up with a steward throwing a sand bag on the smoking pyrotechnic.

Goalscorer Leigh Griffiths ran out of patience and ran over to toss the smoking package on to the track. A career as a fireman awaits.

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Tom Rogic's invention causes Thistle problems again and his little flick puts Mikey Johnston clear only for the striker to fire weakly straight at goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Thistle are still looking to attack and Blair Spittal's curling free-kick finds Sean McGinty at the back post, but the defender can only head straight at Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain.

    Quote Message

Sinclair was player of the year, he was unbelievable in Rodgers' first season. He still scored a number of goals last season. If he gets to that level, he's a top-class player

    Quote Message

He's absolutely delighted to hit the target - the last two games he's missed a couple. All he had to do was keep his eye on the ball and get good contact. Great work from Sinclair down the left, lovely turn and spun the defender

  11. goal

GOAL Partick Thistle 0-1 Celticpublished at 17mins

    Leigh Griffiths

Just as Thistle look to have worked their way into the game, Celtic punish them at the other end.

Scott Sinclair rolls marker Christie Elliott and the winger's low ball from the bye-line is finished by Leigh Griffiths from eight yards.

That's the Scotland striker's first goal of the season as he looks to establish himself back in the starting line-up.

New Jags signing Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo is a threat again, but the former Inverness Caley Thistle striker can only fire straight at goalkeeper Scott Bain from an acute angle.

  13. Izaguirre shows his classpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 18 August 2018

    Partick Thistle 0-0 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

It was a wonderful-left foot pass from Izaguirre to Sinclair and we know he has that in his locker. The question marks are from a fitness point of view and whether he can defend in a one-on-one situation. He certainly has quality going forward.

  14. Postpublished at 13mins

    Partick Thistle 0-0 Celtic

Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo wins Thistle's first corner and the Celtic's defence is taken by surprise by a ball to Shea Gordon clear at the edge of the penalty box.

But the on-loan Motherwell midfielder's shot is weak and only gets as far as Leigh Griffiths.

Rogic looks as if he's got a bit of energy. I've felt he's not been quite at his best, particularly midweek against AEK Athens. He certainly looks up for it today

    "...or back to mediocrity."

That's the message from a section of the visiting Celtic supporters after a difficult week for the club and Brendan Rodgers.

Defeat by Hearts in the Premiership, a Champions League exit, Dedryck Boyata apparently refusing to play and tension between Rodgers and the club's board over the lack of transfer dealings.

The striker plays the ball into the path of Rogic and the Australia midfielder's low drive is pushed away one-handed by Thistle goalkeeper Cammy Bell.
