I played when there were no astro-turf pitches and there were a lot of injuries then as well. People got the same injuries. Knee injuries, twisted ankles and they happened on any kind of surface, not just astro-turf

I have no time for astro-turf pitches whatsoever. When he [Murphy] does go to plant it's foot it's different, your feet can stick in the astro-turf. It certainly looked like, when he did plant his foot, he jolted his knee

  9. HALF-TIME Kilmarnock 0-2 Rangerspublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

Rangers described Bordeaux's £3.75m bid for Alfredo Morelos as derisory and you can see why Steven Gerrard wants to hold on to the Colombian striker.

The 22-year-old had one cruelly ruled off as it was cleared off the line before he struck twice to put the Glasgow side well on their way to being the seventh team in the hat for today's Scottish League Cup quarter-final draw.

One worry for Rangers is the injury to Jamie Murphy, the Scotland winger having been in impressive form this season after completing his permanent move from Brighton.

    Kilmarnock 0-2 Rangers

    Gordon Smith
    Former SFA chief executive

    Quote Message

The manager, Steve Clarke, will probably be annoyed with Scott Boyd there. But Morelos did everything right. He backed into him, looked as though he was going to be fouled and then got away from him. Then it's a great finish

  11. YELLOW CARD Kris Boydpublished at 45mins

    Kilmarnock 0-2 Rangers

Kris Boyd is unfortunate to find himself booked as he flattens Nikola Katic with his shoulder.

It just looked like the Killie striker's bulk won the day as the Serb just bounced off him.

  12. goal

GOAL Kilmarnock 0-2 Rangerspublished at 42mins

    Alfredo Morelos

Alfredo Morelos scores again and Scott Boyd won't want to watch that one again.

The Kilmarnock centre-half gets himself on the wrong side of Morelos as they chase James Tavernier's long ball into the home penalty box and the striker's shows his strength with a spin and quick-fire shot low past goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann.

  13. Postpublished at 36mins

    Kilmarnock 0-1 Rangers

Jordan Jones has been quiet for Kilmarnock but bursts into life to leave James Tavernier trailing.

However, the winger finds a defenders boot instead of the clinical feet of Kris Boyd with his low cross from the bye-line.

  14. More for goal-hungry Morelospublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

    Kilmarnock 0-1 Rangers

Alfredo Morelos has now scored in his last three games for Rangers - and four times this season.

That's 22 overall since he joined the Ibrox club from HJK Helsinki last summer.

  15. CLOSE!published at 33mins

Scott Arfield curls a free-kick a foot over the Kilmarnock crossbar from 25 yards as the visitors threaten to extend their lead.

  16. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 32mins

    Kilmarnock 0-1 Rangers

Two former Rangers players combine as Killie go close to an equaliser.

Chris Burke's corner finds Kirk Broadfoot climbing on Nikola Katic's helpful shoulders, but his looping header strikes the top of the crossbar.

  17. Drastic plastic?published at 13:02 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

    Kilmarnock 0-1 Rangers

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who is sitting this one out, is obviously blaming Kilmarnock's artificial pitch for what looks like a serious injury to team-mate Jamie Murphy.

The forward was stretchered off earlier on after an awkward fall.

  18. Morelos first to reactpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

    Kilmarnock 0-1 Rangers

    Gordon Smith
    Former SFA chief executive

    Quote Message

You can never write him off Morelos. He misses sitters, but that was a good finish. He's the first one to react at the back post and head it in

  19. goal

GOAL Kilmarnock 0-1 Rangerspublished at 27mins

    Alfredo Morelos

Alfredo Morelos with his fourth goal of the season as the striker is found unmarked by a deflected James Tavernier cross and he heads home from five yards.

Terrible marking by Killie and debutant goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann looked rooted to his line too.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 25mins

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Rangers

Wes Foderingham shows why he was Rangers' first choice last season as he flicks a Chris Burke cross over the crossbar Gordon Banks style.

That save from the goalkeeper was made more impressive by the fact he saw it late as Gary Dicker tried and missed with a flick in front of him.
