Motherwell captain Peter Hartley became embroiled in controversy this week when previewing today's match.
Hartley said it had been "fun to watch" former Rangers defender Fabio Cardoso "weeping" after breaking his nose during last season's League Cup semi-final between the two sides.
The defender later apologised on social media, an apology that was accepted by Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and Motherwell, with Fir Park assistant manager Keith Lasley saying Hartley would not be losing the captaincy.
Motherwell v Rangers (12:15)
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard: "We've been briefed on what to expect from Motherwell.
"We'll pinpoint the weak areas they've got and try to exploit them.
"The physical side of it is something we're expecting going into this game and hopefully our ability as a team will be enough to take away the three points.
"It is a tough game for us, but it is a game where we want to go and give a good account of ourselves and try and keep this run going. We are going for maximum points."
Saturday's Premiership
No matter how today's games end, Hearts will finish the weekend top of the Premiership after their third win out of three against Kilmarnock on Saturday.
The game wasn't without controversy with Killie manager Steve Clarke unhappy with the red card shown to Gary Dicker and the club will lodge an appeal against referee Willie Collum's decision.
Elsewhere, Hibernian and Aberdeen drew 1-1, St Johnstone consigned Dundee to a third straight league defeat and new Livingston manager Gary Holt enjoyed victory in his first match in charge - a 2-0 win at St Mirren.

Andy Halliday starts in the centre alongside Ryan Jack, with Scott Arfield, Daniel Candeias and Ryan Kent all dropping to the bench.
Motherwell make two changes from the side that won 1-0 at Livingston in the League Cup last weekend, with Allan Campbell and Chris Cadden replacing Adam Frear and Alex Rodriguez Gorrin, who are among the substitutes.
