    Blackburn 0-0 Aston Villa

You do have to fear for this Villa side, who look panicked already as Mile Jedinak lunges into a needless challenge on Bradley Dack.

From the free-kick, the ball reaches Darragh Lenihan inside the area, and he nods just wide.

Reading ended their wait for a first league win of the season with a narrow win at fellow strugglers Preston.

Royals boss Paul Clement was happy with how his side fought back to win after twice taking the lead only for the hosts to equalise.

"It's a feeling that we haven't had a lot recently," he told BBC Radio Berkshire.

"We had to work hard for it and it was a very tight game but fortunately today we were able to get those little details right to get over the line.

"Of course it wasn't the perfect performance but we played in a competitive game and came out on top. I'm very pleased with the mental aspect.

"Winning 1-0 away from home, great, then they come back into the game and then we go again 2-1 and then it happens again and you can start thinking 'it's not going to be our day again' but we got the victory so I'm really pleased with that."

    Blackburn 0-0 Aston Villa

This midfield battle is shaping up to be quite something already - and Villa are on the ropes, early doors.

Ryan Nyambe, legs spinning furiously into circles like a Looney Tunes character, ends up crumbled in a heap after John McGinn snaps into a challenge that's so late he'll probably make contact with the ball in about two weeks' time.

McGinn goes into the book, and rightly so.

    Blackburn 0-0 Aston Villa

Tammy Abraham is on hand to clear the danger and concede another corner, but he's hobbling awkwardly - which won't please Steve Bruce.

Danny Graham tries to flick-on Bradley Dack's corner, but it's futile - but Dack wins a free-kick as Jack Grealish flings his arms up to block the midfielder's cross.

Whoever wins today will move up to 12 points, three points behind leaders Leeds, but stuck somewhere in the logjam of teams that includes Brentford, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, among others.

Bradley Dack gets the better of the Villa midfield and sets his team in motion, and Axel Tuanzebe must head behind again as Darragh Lenihan gets the better of him.

    Blackburn 0-0 Aston Villa

Amari'i Bell hurtles down the left flank, legs churning furiously, and plays a neat delivery into the path of Adam Armstrong.

Axel Tuanzebe's last-ditch defending saves Villa's bacon as Armstrong crosses, and Villa surrender a corner.

Charlie Mulgrew hurtles the second ball back into the box and Orjan Nyland must be alert to collect Tuanzebe's poor headed clearance.

Close for Blackburn, the ball pinging around in the area before Nyland restored some order to the melee.

    Blackburn 0-0 Aston Villa

Richie Smallwood picks out Ryan Nyambe with a sliding ball on the halfway line, unleashing Nyambe into acres of space down the right.

Rovers pack the box, but Nyambe finds his avenues blocked and takes it on his own, running down a blind alley.

    Blackburn 0-0 Aston Villa

Blackburn, of course, welcome back midfield playmaker Bradley Dack, who's the key cog in the engine room for Tony Mowbray's side.

He'll be in for some battle up against Villa's influential pairing of Jack Grealish and John McGinn, though.

Right on cue, Dack picks up possession in the Villa half but he's swarmed out by Albert Adomah and, um, several others - they'll press him like a vice today.

    FT: Plymouth 0-1 Blackpool

In the flurry of full-time activity, we seemed to miss that two Blackpool players - Donervon Daniels and Marc Bola - were sent off in the closing stages of their win at Plymouth.

A few people on social media are saying it was for an altercation between the two - we'll hopefully have an interview with their manager, Terry McPhillips, to clear everything up a little bit later.

Villa have started brightly here and look to have shaken off any demons from that Bramall Lane drubbing.

New signing Tammy Abraham peels off to lay off Ahmed Elmohamady, whose cross flies off the head of Albert Adomah and out for a Blackburn goal kick.

Before kick-off, both teams observed 40 seconds of silence to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, which came earlier this week.

One person takes their own life every 40 seconds, and both teams stood together to observe that beautifully.

    Blackburn 0-0 Aston Villa

Both teams come into this one on the back of - what are the odds?! - 4-1 defeats, Blackburn having lost to Bristol City in their final game before the international break, and Aston Villa proving obliging opponents to a rampant Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

I was at the last of those two, and Villa were genuinely terrible. They had all the hallmarks of a team that haven't won since 11 August, when they beat Wigan 3-2.

A few years ago, this would have been a Premier League fixture - but for now, they're in the second tier, and are under way.

    Championship table

We'll have reaction from today's 15:00 BST to come...

It was a decent day for Leeds, who are the only unbeaten side left in the Championship thanks to a 1-1 draw at Millwall.

Brentford have moved up to second and Bristol City to third thanks to wins over Wigan and Sheffield United respectively, plus Middlesbrough's first defeat of the season at Norwich.

Aston Villa will move up into the top six if they beat Blackburn by two or more goals while Rovers would go into the top six if they beat the Villans by three or more.

There's a start for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, who has joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old scored five times in 31 Premier League games for Swansea City last season, with his impressive early form earning him two England caps.

He's been in the Champonship before, of course: in 2016-17, he played for Bristol City, scoring 26 goals in his debut season.

"Villa are a big club that belongs in the Premier League and I'm here to help them achieve that," said Abraham.
