    Sheff Wed 2-0 West Brom

Sheffield Wednesday almost put the game to bed with a third goal.

A short corner works its way to Fernando Forestieri, who toe-pokes an angled effort straight at Sam Johnstone.

A let-off for Albion, who haven't looked at their best defensively, that's for sure.

  2. Postpublished at 20:58 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Rotherham 0-0 Bristol City

Michael Smith has a huge change to head Rotherham in front from Joe Newell's fine left-wing cross, but the Millers front man diverts his header over the bar from eight yards out.

  3. Albion goal disallowedpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

    Sheff Wed 2-0 West Brom

West Brom have the ball in the net again from another corner, but for the second time in the match they have it disallowed. And rightly so.

Craig Dawson barges into the Owls goalkeeper, his namesake Cameron Dawson, and a foul is given.

    Sheff Wed 2-0 West Brom

Pinball in the Sheffield Wednesday area but the Owls just about manage to clear a corner.

    Rotherham 0-0 Bristol City

It's a tiring 350-mile round trip from Bristol to Rotherham.

So far, if you're one of the Bristol City fans who has made the journey north on this Wednesday night, you've not seen your side muster a single effort on target yet, nor force a corner.

    Blackburn 0-0 Sheff Utd

Sheffield United force an early corner at Blackburn but Jack O'Connell heads just over for the Blades.

That's one of three goalless games at the moment.

    Darren MooreImage source, PA

No changes made by West Brom boss Darren Moore at the interval. He could call upon the craft of Wes Hoolahan or the directness of Hal Robson-Kanu if he so wishes.

One crumb of comfort is that Sheffield Wednesday haven't kept a clean sheet in the league so far this season. But is tonight the night?

One for all you trivia fans out there...

A little-known fact about Steve Bruce - he has written a series of crime fiction novels following the fortunes of a manager called Steve Barnes.

Maybe we'll get a long-awaited follow-up to "Striker", "Sweeper" and "Defender"?

More likely, he'll find himself back in football soon - he's a genuine guy and I'm sure there are many clubs out there for whom he'll be seen as the perfect fit. Sadly, that wasn't the case at Aston Villa.

  12. Bruce sacked by Aston Villapublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 3 October 2018

So if you weren't with us earlier, you missed reaction to Steve Bruce's departure from Aston Villa.

The Championship club sacked the 57-year-old after a run of only one win in nine league games.

Telegraph journalist John Percy was one of the first reporters to break the story earlier today and has his theory about why the Villa fans had lost patience with Bruce...

Millwall have had the better chances but it's Forest who lead through Joe Lolley's 20-yard drive into the corner.

But two at Hillsborough and it's Sheffield Wednesday who have them both.

Adam Reach's first was a powerful pearler from 30 yards, while Fernando Forestieri grabbed the second after a mix-up in the Albion defence.

Work for Darren Moore's side to do - they've come close a couple of times, but trail at the interval.

    Sheff Wed 2-0 West Brom

Almost an instant response from West Brom but Dwight Gayle's effort on the volley hits the bar and bounces clear.

We also have to give credit to Owls goalkeeper Cameron Dawson, who made a super save from Tyrone Mears just before Wednesday's second goal.

Sheffield Wednesday are 2-0 up and it's chaos in the Albion defence!

Kyle Bartley is in an excellent position to clear a left-wing cross, but Craig Dawson gets a glancing header to the ball under no pressure and it lands at the feet of Fernando Forestieri, who taps in from eight yards.

Are West Brom heading for their third defeat of the season?

Derby's Mason Mount wriggles his way through a wall of yellow shirts and gets a shot away from 12 yards, but Tim Krul is equal to it.
