Ex-Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Chelsea have started really well. Victor Moses played a lot at wing-back but is now in an advanced three.

It is a very different looking Chelsea side who have been on the front foot, cool and composed in possession.

Almost a shocking own goal from Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno! A routine backpass is miscontrolled by the German and he nearly traps it into his own net. And you thought he was better with his feet than Petr Cech...

I am looking forward to seeing Fabinho for Liverpool and Ross Barkley for Chelsea. There is Victor Moses and Gary Cahill too, who is used to having more game time.

Such is the might of squads it gives respective managers the opportunity to players who are accustomed to first-team football.

Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola on Sky Sport: "Chelsea are a big team and we want to be competitive in every competition.

"The thinking behind the line-up is taking the opportunity to give minutes to the players who have not had it so far, they are very good players and it is strong team."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Sky Sport: "A good game would be cool from Fabinho. The eyes are on him pretty much on him after the transfer in the summer. He did not play so far but as normal as he can get would be the best way. We have James Milner, Naby Keita and Fabinho play together in pre-season and that is one reasons for the line-up.

"I would pick the same team 100% even if it was not Chelsea. Making changes makes sense because we need fresh legs and Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge showed they are ready. Naby Keita had to play tonight."

Arsenal haven’t faced Brentford since May 1947, winning 1-0 at Griffin Park in a top-flight encounter.

That's an incredibly long wait between fixtures.

Last time they played the Queen was not yet the queen and was not yet engaged to Philip, Brian May wasn't in Queen and hadn't even been born and bread was still being rationed.

    • Macclesfield have faced top-flight opposition on 12 occasions, losing 11 and drawing one - in the League Cup, they have lost all four matches.
    • This is Macclesfield's first appearance in the third round of the League Cup. The last League Two side to eliminate a Premier League in the third round were Northampton Town in September 2010 against Liverpool, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Brentford manager Dean Smith says his side "will not fear" Arsenal tonight.

"I would rather have had Macclesfield at home but unfortunately we've got to travel to the Emirates which I'm sure all our supporters will be looking forward to," said Smith.

"We want to progress as far as we can in the tournament - if you can draw the lowest team at home in the draw then it gives you the best chance of doing that, so no disrespect to Macclesfield.

"It's not often the players get the chance to test themselves against one of the top teams in the country. We will certainly give them a lot of respect but we won't fear them."
