  3. 'You have to do the basics'published at 21:58 British Summer Time 11 October 2018

    FT: Wales 1-4 Spain

Wales manager Ryan Giggs speaking to Sky Sports: "The disappointment for me was in the basics. You have to do that even against the average teams.

"If you don't do the basics against a very good team you're in trouble. You have to do the right things or you will get punished. There were so many mistakes.

"Spain move the ball quickly and have penetration. We knew we were up against a good team.

"We showed some threat going forward in the end and that's what we wanted to do. That's about all we can take out of this game - the goal.

"The good thing about football is you always have the next game. We have to react in a positive way in what will be another tough game, and be better."

On Gareth Bale returning for next game: "It's unlikely at this point. It's nothing serious but the closer we get to the game, we will have to make a decision."

    Kylian Mbappe (90 mins)

Well, well, well. France have clawed this game back from the brink.

Les Bleus have a golden opportunity from the penalty spot after Iceland are penalised for a handball.

Kylian Mbappe steps up... boom! Smashes it into the top left-hand corner. Never in doubt from the boy wonder.

    Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson (OG)

Game on? Kylian Mbappe, predictably, is the architect as he flicks his way past his marker in the box before drilling a shot that the Iceland keeper can only parry onto defender Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson and into the net. Oh.

    Heading towards the 90...

    Poland 2-3 Portugal

Bernardo Silva has been in sparkling form for Manchester City this season and tonight he's proved to be the matchwinner for his nation.

The Portugal attacking midfielder's stunning solo goal proved the difference between his team and hosts Poland.

Meanwhile, Serbia wrapped up a 2-0 win over Montenegro in the first meeting between the two nations since they divided in 2006.

In the other Nation League matches, Romania won 2-1 against Lithuania, Azerbaijan beat Faroe Islands 3-0 and Kosovo triumphed 3-1 against Malta.

  9. 'We were punished'published at 21:50 British Summer Time 11 October 2018

    FT: Wales 1-4 Spain

Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey speaking to Sky Sports: "We gave them far too much space to play but we managed to get hold of the ball a little bit better at the end.

"The first half an hour we were quite poor and couldn't get to grips with them. It was a tough night and one we will learn from.

"They were tough opposition and we were punished."

Wales goalscorer Sam Vokes: "It's always nice to get on the score-sheet. We were much better in the second half and looked more organised.

"We were always fighting back after the first half an hour but we will learn. Spain are top class. We knew that from the start.

"We let ourselves down in the first half and it was an uphill battle from there."

    France 0-2 Iceland

France are turning up the heat - but Iceland aren't melting. Kylian Mbappe twists and turns in the box but can't get his shot past a wall of away defenders. About fifteen minutes for the world champions to break down the visitors. Twice.

A frustrating night for the Scots. Their first-half lead was squandered after John Souttar was sent off before an own goal from Kieran Tierney gave Israel victory.

He moves like Busquets, passes like him, looks like him and runs the midfield on his own.

He is brave with pressure and takes the game.

Only a consolation for Wales but it has got the crowd singing.

The cross had to come from David Brooks, who has been excellent since coming on.

There was not a lot of power on the header but Sam Vokes directed it very well.
