Liverpool are fantastically placed in this group, but this game is vital. If Liverpool can get three points they will find themselves on nine points. They are not definitely through, but they will be in a brilliant position.

Aaron: Think it's naive to assume Liverpool can quiet the crowd. The quality of football in Serbia might be several steps down from the English game but European teams have fans whose passion is second to none. It's gonna be hostile all night long.

Johnny Magrinho: I think Mo Salah can feel a bit let down by Mané and Firmino this season. He seems to be doing the work of both of them this year which is undoubtedly hindering his attacking returns. Hopefully with Sturridge starting that will allow Salah to do what he does best.

Liverpool have lost only one of their past 11 Champions League group stage games (W5 D5), scoring 33 goals during this run - an average of three per game.

They have scored 48 goals in the Champions League since the start of last season (16 games), the most of any team in the competition during that time.

Red Star Belgrade's last win in the European Cup (excluding qualifiers) was on 18 March 1992 - with Sinisa Mihajlovic scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Panathinaikos.

But in better news, they have suffered just one defeat in their past 14 home games in European competition (W7 D6) - and conceded only five goals in that time.

Atletico Madrid v Borussia Dortmund (20:00 GMT)

Thierry Henry takes charge of his fifth game as Monaco boss today - he's still looking for his first win.

If they fail to win and Atletico beat Dortmund later, then Monaco are out. The exact same is true of Club Brugge.

Meanwhile, Dortmund are through if they win, while Atletico would go through with a win... if the earlier game is a draw.

A Dortmund draw would be enough if Monaco and Club Brugge draw.

Shaqiri solo goal seals Swiss victory

Liverpool have left Xherdan Shaqiri out of their squad tonight because they want to "avoid any distractions" that may be caused by the midfielder's Albanian heritage.

Shaqiri, 27, is an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, where a Serbian crackdown on the Albanian population ended with Nato military intervention in 1999.

After scoring for Switzerland against Serbia this summer, he celebrated by making a double-headed eagle gesture, which symbolises the Albanian flag.

He was fined 10,000 Swiss francs (£7,632) by Fifa for the celebration, which happened during a World Cup group-stage match.

"We have heard and read the speculation and talk about what kind of reception Shaq would receive and although we have no idea what would happen, we want to go there and be focused 100% on football and not have to think about anything else," said Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

  10. 'Playing good football will cool atmosphere'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2018

Red Star Belgrade v Liverpool (17:55 GMT)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side will be ready for the intimidating atmosphere at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, also known as the Marakana.

“We are from Liverpool so we know how big the influence can be. The only way I know to cool the atmosphere down is playing really good football. That’s what we have to try - to be ready for a fight and ready for a big game.

“We will be ready, that’s the only thing I can make sure of. Then the boys have to do the job on the pitch, of course.

“We are not the most experienced team in the world in this part of the game but in the last three years we had two years with long, long journeys. We were twice in a final - that means we are really used to difficult atmospheres and difficult situations."

  11. 'We are playing for the whole region'published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2018

Red Star Belgrade v Liverpool (17:55 GMT)

Red Star Belgrade coach Vladan Milojevic believes his team are playing for the pride of Serbia.

They could go out tonight, depending on the group's other result.

"For the club, Belgrade, Serbia and the whole region, this is an important occasion, and we are looking forward to a spectacle. We will try to make the best of the game," Milojevic said.

"One of the best teams in Europe and the world comes to us. I think it will be a real spectacle in the stadium and an atmosphere awaits us that only our fans can create."

"We know that we did not have the support of our fans for the previous two matches [because of a Uefa ban].

"Everyone knows what it means to play at the Marakana. No-one feels comfortable with it, and it puts wind in our sails, because the atmosphere is much different than at other stadiums."

  12. 'Liverpool favourites to qualify'published at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2018

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis, Gracenote:

"Liverpool's comfortable win on matchday three against Red Star Belgrade, coupled with the draw between Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain has put the Reds into pole position in Group C. Liverpool are now favourites to win the group (40%) and of course to progress (73%) according to the Euro Club Index.

"However, there is no room for error with group rivals Napoli and PSG both above 50% chance of going through. With Liverpool's rivals playing each other, a win in Serbia for Liverpool this week will almost put the Reds into the knockout phase."

Nobody can seal a place in the last 16 from this group today - but Red Star could go out.

If PSG do lose then they'll be staring an early exit in the face.

"Twice we lost everything and had to start life again. I'm from here but technically I'm not from here either."

Milos Degenek's path to play for his beloved Red Star Belgrade has hardly been a smooth one.

His family had to leave Croatia, and then Serbia, before he turned six - both times as a refugee - and they eventually settled in Australia.

The 24-year-old defender, who plays for his adopted country Australia, told the BBC World Football Show his remarkable story.

Yep, this stock picture of a baby eating an apple is my way of telling you that we have reached crunch time in the Champions League group stages.

Teams can start going through - or out - tonight.

Having said that, would that baby make a crunch sound eating that apple if they don't have many teeth?

The Getty Images archive also had picture of Marouane Fellaini, Janet Jackson, Damon Albarn and Pierce Brosnan eating apples. Should I have used one of those?

    Am I overthinking this?

Anyway welcome to match day four of the Champions League.
