Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois: "The correct decicion? I think so. When it happened I thought it could be offside. When the guy headed it I wanted to go and catch it.

"Because of his [Tadic's] intention I made a quick movement. Luckily for VAR because nobody would have seen it."

    Tottenham 3-0 Borussia Dortmund

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen speaking to BT Sport: "They looked very strong and had the better of the game but in the second half we were able to turn it around.

"They dropped off a bit then that early goal in the second half helped. We had the confidence to keep going.

"It was [my first goal] since the first game this season and I had to wait for goal line technology then so I was happy that I could just go [to celebrate this time]!

"It was at Wembley too in the Champions League so it was special. It was one of those nights.

"We were able to keep them quiet in the second half and they weren't able to be clinical. The game changed in the second half definitely."

Spurs have been absolutely amazing tonight. Borussia Dortmund did not see that coming. It's performances like this that make me wonder why Spurs are always billed as the underdogs and don't get the credit they deserve. Three reasons that prove they're deserving of their Champions League place, right there.

    Alex

With my exhausted pregnant wife asleep next to me I had to celebrate those two goals in complete silence...possibly more challenging than giving birth, I've heard..

    Ben, Farnborough

This Dortmund team pass the ball so slowly. There's a great deal of giving the ball to talented individuals and hoping something happens - luxury of playing in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham forward/legend Son Heung-min on BT: "Jan Vertonghen is technically unbelievable and can play in any position. I am very happy for him, he deserved it.

"One goal and an assist! The timing of the first goal was very important, the cross was unreal, I didn't have to do anything, just touch the ball.

"It's not finished, we have to focus on the second game too. Harry or Dele are very important for us but we have players who can come in and do well. We showed that, Fernando came on too and scored an important goal."

Lotak: Who needs Kane when you've got Vertonghen?! Can't believe how dominant we were in the second half. Could easily have been four or five. Absolutely brilliant from Spurs in the second half. Still. Only half time.

Stuart Duggan: Stunning, stunning result for the Spurs. No Kane, no Dele, no problem!

Simon Taylor: Awesome result, and the icing on the cake is that Spurs have over a week before we play again

Dortmund couldn't lay a glove on Spurs in the second half. Jadon Sancho was excellent in the first half but offered nothing in the second.

  8. 'Spurs completely overrun them'published at 21:56 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2019

    Tottenham 3-0 Borussia Dortmund

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp on BT Sport: "Jan Vertonghen never stopped in the second half. Both full-backs pushed forward at every opportunity.

"Dortmund went missing. Spurs completely overrun them in the second half."

Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand: "It was phenomenal. Mauricio Pochettino has to take huge credit for the way he tweaked the full-backs. The individual performances from Eriksen, Vertonghen, Sissoko and Son...

"In the first half Dortmund looked like the team top of the Bundesliga but the contrast to the second half was huge."

  9. 'Tottenham deserve this'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2019

    Tottenham 3-0 Dortmund

It's possibly the hardest thing I've ever done this. So many Tottenham fans down below walking past me looking so happy!

But Spurs fully deserve this win.

Dortmund fell apart under the pressure and the intensity from Tottenham; they just couldn't deal with it.

The first goal came at a brilliant time.

Each man did a little bit more at the start of the second half.

But as a player you will say 'half time' the fans can go off and say what they like but Mauricio Pochettino will have to tell his players it's only 'half time'.

But it will be a tough ask for Dortmund to go on and beat this Tottenham side now.

    Well, well, well.

What a magnificent ending to this game for Tottenham.

It is going to be their first ever Champions League knockout round win at home - their only other one came away to AC Milan in 2011.

It is also Spurs' first knockout round win in any European competition since they beat Fiorentina in the Europa League in 2016.

Silence in the Amsterdam Arena. A proper sucker punch that. A late second away goal for the holders.

It's a decent counter, Dani Carvajal whips in a brilliant curling low cross which Ajax keeper Andre Onana can't collect and sub Marco Asensio taps it into the back of the net.
