Salzburg 0-1 Celtic
Great tackle from Mikael Lustig, who lunges in to block Takumi Minamino right in front of goal.

Quote MessageMuch better play from Celtic. Down this left hand side, if they get Kieran Tierney high up the pitch he has the ability to take on Stefan Lainer.

Salzburg 0-1 Celtic
At the age of 31, Youssouf Mulumbu is making his first European appearance. He does well to break up play near halfway and start a Celtic attack but then he gets in the way of team-mate Olivier Ntcham's shot from 20 yards.
Salzburg 0-1 Celtic
Some slick passing on the edge of the Celtic penalty area ends with top-scorer Mu'nas Dabbur slamming a first-time effort just wide.
Salzburg 0-1 Celtic
Salzburg's Japanese forward Takumi Minamino is not the tallest but he finds room between Dedryck Boyata and Jack Hendry only to send his header over the top from 15 yards.
Salzburg 0-1 Celtic
Some hesitant defending from Jack Hendry gifts the home side a corner but the ball is repelled at the front post. Hendry will need to more switched on than that since Salzburg are starting to up the pressure.
Salzburg 0-1 Celtic
That early goal from Odsonne Edouard ends an eight-game drought for the 20-year-old striker, who Celtic shelled out a record £9m for in the summer.
Salzburg 0-1 Celtic
The stunned hosts try to find a response but a long-range effort from Xaver Schalger is easily gathered by goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Quote MessageIt's an incredible start for Celtic. Edouard used his strength to knock the defender off the ball, and it's a really good finish. Big, big start for Celtic, the perfect start in this arena
Odsonne Edouard
Dream start. Callum McGregor hoists a long ball high up in the air and Odsonne Edouard shows great strength to shrug off his man on the left edge of the penalty box before sliding a composed finish into the far corner.
Salzburg 0-0 Celtic
Handshakes done, a peep of the whistle from Ukrainian referee Serhiy Boiko, and we are away...

Mu'nas Dabbur is a man on form... The Salzburg striker has 13 goals in 15 games this season.
Scotland manager Alex McLeish will be keeping a close eye on this one since Dabbur will be leading the home attack in the Nations League meeting in Haifa next week.
The 26-year-old's record for Israel is not quite so daunting, with just one international goal.

Quote MessageIn Europe, you need to keep the ball. Celtic will need to be at their very best, the level they were at against Rangers, to get anything from this game.
The teams are in the tunnel. Not long to go now...
Salzburg v Celtic (17:55)
Celtic have been here before, drawing 2-2 in this competition back in 2014.
Wakaso Mubarak (yes, I'd forgotten all about him too) scored his one and only Celtic goal, with Scott Brown also on target with a deflected volley.
The game in Glasgow did not go so well, with Salzburg running out 3-1 winners.
Salzburg v Celtic (17:55)
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers confirms that captain Scott Brown, who misses out this evening, will likely be absent for the trip to St Johnstone at the weekend as well.
"It is a blow," Rodgers tells BT Sport.
"We have to be very strong, especially defensively. We have got to quieten the crowd and make sure physically we are really tight.
"For us, we have a plan. We have the quality of players to play and score goals."

That impressive home form served Salzburg well in this competition last season as they made it to the last four.
Real Sociedad and Lazio were among the teams beaten in Wals-Seizenheim before Marseille edged them out with a goal in extra time of their semi-final.
It left Salzburg with a 2-1 win but out 3-2 on aggregate.

Like Celtic, Salzburg are the dominant domestic force, having been crowned champions in the past five seasons.
Like Celtic, Salzburg were knocked out of Champions League qualifying, going out on away goals to Red Star Belgrade.
Unlike Celtic, Salzburg have started strongly in the Austrian Bundesliga, with nine wins from nine.
Revitalised in 2005 by backing from a well known energy drink, they are unbeaten at home in all competitions since November 2016.

Quote MessageScott Brown is the leader of the team. He sits there and allows others to play. In a bizarre way it might be a positive and they might be forced to go more direct
