Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has cooled any speculation linking him with the Aston Villa job. He's on a shortlist to replace Steve Bruce. Asked if he would rule himself out of the running he told BBC Scotland: "Yeah.

"The only thing is I would say is that there's always speculation. What I know from my time in England, Aston Villa's a huge club. It's a top Premier League club that's in the Championship.

"But for me I'm so happy here at Celtic. I'm the Celtic manager, I love it here and still have lots of challenges that excite me here."

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright had little complaint about Danny Swanson's red card for a late hack at James Forrest.

"I've seen them given as yellow but I don't think if you appeal it's an obvious error because the referee will argue he's made no attempt to play the ball," he says. "I can't see it being overturned.

"Danny's a passionate player. He was angry with the first half performance of the team and he's probably carried that out onto the pitch. It's the wrong type of passion. He's apologised. He knows he's let his team mates down."

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is bemoaning a catalogue of errors from his side, including the number of times players slipped on the wet surface.

"We started nice and bright," he tells BBC Sportsound. "But then the game totally flipped. After that we didn't make a tackle until Steven Anderson came on. I'm disappointed with the manner of the goals. We can defend a lot better.

"The players need to be braver on the ball, because they are good enough. There were too many cheap turnovers."

It sounds like it's worth tuning into Sportscene to see Alfredo Morelos' 11th goal of the season for Rangers.

"It was almost a dance move," says commentator Rob Maclean, who faces a few tough choices for his regular team-of-the-week for the BBC Sport website.

The league action resumes on Saturday 20 October and there are a few beauties to look forward to, with Celtic at home to Hibs, who also scored six this weekend, the pick of the fixtures.

Neil Lennon took five points off his old team last season and Hibs are sure to have a go in Glasgow.

Hearts v Aberdeen is another tasty match in the next round of the Premiership.

Just five points cover the top six in the Premiership now as the Old Firm show their teeth. But we'll need to wait for the next installment of league action since we're going into an international break.

Scotland are in Israel on Thursday looking for a second win that would put Alex McLeish's side in control of their three-team Nations League group.

Then it's a friendly against Portugal at Hampden next Sunday.

An emphatic win sends Celtic up to third in the Premiership, three points behind leaders Hearts.

James Forrest was the star of the show in Perth with a dazzling first-half display, banging in an incredible four goals.

Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor were also on target for the champions.

As we go into the final 10 minutes in Perth, the weekend goal tally for the Premiership stands at 25. Will we get another before full time?

David Wotherspoon and Steven Anderson are booked in quick succession as 10-man Saints begin to tire. Celtic's Olivier Ntcham goes for goal from a free-kick at the left edge of the box and gets a few glares from team-mates up from the back as his effort flies high into the stand behind the goal.

Celtic's Lewis Morgan, just on for Tom Rogic, lets fly from 20 yards and his dipping effort is not far away as it zips over the target.

Rangers nudge back into the top six after a comfortable win over the league leaders.

Hearts' advantage at the top is now just two points as Craig Levein's side lose for the first time this season.

Manager Steven Gerrard's Ibrox record now reads: nine wins and one draw in all competitions.

Jozo Simunovic has been out of the Celtic team since August but the big defender wastes no time having a pop at goal, with his long-range effort taking a wee deflection on its way over the top.

Scott Sinclair is on for Leigh Griffiths, who will be disappointed not to be among the goals against today's generous opponents.

There's a change in defence for the champions too, as Filip Benkovic makes way for Jozo Simumovic.
