    FT: Barcelona 5-0 Glasgow City

That is all from tonight's live coverage of Barcelona and Glasgow City. A disappointing night for the Scottish champions, but there is no shame in getting to the last 16 of the Champions League and losing heavily to a top side.

You can read Amy MacBeath's match report on the website shortly.

Thanks for joining us. Have a pleasant evening, and we'll see you again for the second leg on Thursday 1 November.

    Hasta pronto

    FT: Barcelona 5-0 Glasgow City

The second leg will be two weeks tomorrow at Petershill Park.

Before that game City have two huge games to get themselves up for.

On Sunday they face Hibernian at home. The two clubs are level on points, with City leading the Scottish Women's Premier League by two goals.

Then the following week is the final day of the league season. Can City make it 12 league titles in a row, or will Hibernian finally end their stranglehold on Scottish football and in turn push themselves closer to a domestic treble?

Alan Campbell: Second half a damage limitation exercise as the gulf between the sides became all too evident. Given the resources and status of the two clubs, Barca should probably have won by more. So, not the worst of nights for City, despite the scoreline.

There has been a lot of positive performances from City. Scott Booth now has to lift their heads and focus on a huge game on Sunday against Hibernian.

    FT: Barcelona 5-0 Glasgow City

It was a tough night for Glasgow City. They made mistakes at the back and were cruelly punished for them by a very good team.In the second leg they won't have to do as much chasing, with the Petershill Park pitch significantly smaller than the huge Mini Estadi one. However, surely they are simply playing for pride at home now, with a five-goal deficit too much to claw back.

    Barcelona 5-0 Glasgow City

Barcelona are happy to knock the ball about for the final few minutes. City, to their credit, are still chasing every ball. They have put in one hell of a shift tonight.

They have made critical errors in defence, but you also have to applaud some of the superb play throughout the 90 minutes from Barcelona.

Natasha Andonova hits a left-foot shot off the crossbar. City manage to get the ball clear.

It has been a torrid night for the Scottish champions and there are a few players looking exhausted out there.

City have had a heavy schedule, with big league games and cup games, as well as forays into Europe, keeping them constantly busy.

Despite Barcelona increasing their lead, the last few minutes has probably been City's best spell of the second half. Jenna Clark heading wide and Leanne Ross sending a free-kick into the area, but City can't work goalkeeper Sanda Panos.

Lara Ivanusa has done well since she's come on. She's been positive, she's ran at people, she's got City up the pitch.

    Maria Leon

It is harsh on Glasgow City, but Barcelona show their class again. City can't get the ball clear, it falls to Maria Leon on the edge of the box who hammers a volley through a ruck of bodies.

Goalkeeper Lee Alexander is perhaps unsighted as the ball manages to slip under her and into the net.

It is a decent chance for Glasgow City. From the corner kick, substitute Jenna Clark gets up highest and heads just past the post.

  11. How City have reached the last 16published at 19:03 British Summer Time 17 October 2018

    Barcelona 4-0 Glasgow City

Glasgow City had to go through the group stage this season. They lost their opening game 2-1 to Anderlecht, but beat Georgians FC Martve 7-0 before a 2-0 win over Polish champions Gornik Leczna ensured they topped Group 3.

They faced Somatio Barcelona in the last 32, winning 2-0 in Cyprus, and although they lost 1-0 at Petershill Park they progressed,

Now Barcelona stand in their way of equaling their best ever performance in the Champions League and reaching the quarter-finals, a feat last achieved in 2014/15.

City make their third change of the match; Hayley Lauder makes way for Jenna Clark as Scott Booth tries to freshen things up for the visitors.

On the other bench, the scorer of the second goal Aitana Bonmati comes off, and Barcelona bring on Macedonia captain Natasha Andonova.

    Barcelona 4-0 Glasgow City

Barcelona make some changes. One of them is to introduce Liverpool-born winger Toni Duggan. The 27-year-old, who already has over 60 caps for England, is not the player you want to see when you're 4-0 down with 20 minutes still left on the clock.

  14. goal

GOAL Barcelona 4-0 Glasgow Citypublished at 18:54 British Summer Time 17 October 2018

    Andressa Alves

It is a horror moment for Glasgow City goalkeeper Lee Alexander, who had up until that point had a good game for the visitors. But Andressa Alves shot slips through her hands and into the net.

    Barcelona 3-0 Glasgow City

It is a second change for Glasgow City. Abbi Grant comes off and Lara Ivanusa comes on.

The difficulty for Glasgow City head coach Scott Booth is although he wants to keep his dangerous players on the park to salvage an away goal, they also have an even bigger game on Sunday when they host Hibernian in what is essentially a title decider.

  16. Postpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 17 October 2018

    Barcelona 3-0 Glasgow City

The pressure intensifies on the City goal. Lee Alexander has to tip away a corner kick, and City's 16-year-old defender Carly Girasoli has to deflect a dangerous low cross over her own crossbar.

Andressa Alves is angry at herself for not making it 4-0. City are opened up far too easily and Alves is picked out at the back post, but she can't get the ball under control and City eventually get it cleared.

  19. Postpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 17 October 2018

    Barcelona 3-0 Glasgow City

City are really struggling to get out of their own half. In fact they are struggling to keep possession outside of their box. Barcelona continue to press although Lee Alexander has yet to make a save in the second half.

The home side win a corner but City defend it well.

I thought early in the game Barcelona looked uncomfortable. But they're right into their stride. Being 3-0 up will do that for you. City need to knock the ball in behind Barcelona to turn them.
