    FT: Reading 0-2 Sheffield United

Sheffield United midfielder Ollie Norwood tells Sky Sports: "We started well and had a couple of chances, but we were really sloppy. In the second half we pressured them a bit more, Billy does what he does and sticks the ball in the net, which he's done throughout his career."

Goalscorer Billy Sharp: "We always create chances and I had a half-chance before that. But I believed another chance was coming and they're the goals I love - from two yards out."

Who else but Billy Sharp for Sheffield United?

Billy Sharp does what Billy Sharp has been doing for years - scoring goals.

Preston are sneaking up the table after a difficult start to the season. A battling win at Nottingham Forest means they've now lost just once in 11 Championship games.

Louis Moult's goal just before the hour proved enough for victory, and lifts them six points clear of the relegation zone.

"It was a terrific effort," said manager Alex Neil. "I thought our game plan worked, but it's one thing having a plan and another carrying it out.

"I thought the players did that to a tee - I'm delighted with them. We wanted to be very narrow and limit the space Forest would get, and we did just that."

Famara Diedhiou's goal midway through the second half gave Bristol City victory at Birmingham and made them the first side to win a league game at St Andrew's since March.

Blues avoided relegation last season after Garry Monk's appointment as boss and have carried that good form into this campaign.

"They've really got it going," Bristol City boss Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol. "I think it's a big achievement to win here.

"Birmingham have had a lot of praise for how they've done this season, but now we're only a point behind them and looking up the table. It was a really dogged performance and a well deserved win."

There was no perfect start for former England defender Sol Campbell in his first league game as a manager.

His Macclesfield Town side - who are bottom of League Two - lost 1-0 at promotion-chasing Colchester.

"We've got to take this on the chin and go again," he told BBC Radio Manchester. "But this is good for me because it's showing me the level of playing ability we've got.

"There are little things we can tweak to get better and we've just got to keep on working.

"Colchester are a top side and some of those guys were on the floor because they've been in a game. We're going in the right direction and I want guys who are in for the fight."
