Right then, back to the Madejski Stadium.

No goals so far - maybe Mark Duffy can provide some inspiration for Sheffield United in the second half? He's off the bench in place of fellow midfielder John Lundstram.

    We're under way again.

  3. Rowett not happy despite Stoke winpublished at 18:27 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

Stoke City are starting to put quite a run together. Goals from Tom Ince and Joe Allen in either half means they're unbeaten in eight Championship games - although five of those have been draws.

But manager Gary Rowett is happy to admit that bottom-of-the-table Ipswich were often on top.

"I've said to the players that the positives are we scored two very good goals, kept a clean sheet and it turns out recent run into a very good run, but we were poor," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"We lacked energy, especially compared to Ipswich. I think we did enough to win, but I was very disappointed with aspects of the performance and I've told the players exactly that."

Leeds United came from behind to beat QPR and remain second in the table, just a point behind leaders Norwich.

Nahki Wells scored for the visitors against the run of play, but Kemar Roofe's scruffy goal drew Leeds level on the stroke of half-time before he secured all three points from the penalty spot just after the break.

"It was tough, we had really to dig in and I thought we did that well," Leeds defender Jamie Shackleton told BBC Radio Leeds.

"They're the sort of games you sometimes just have to win dirty. We carried on playing our way and didn't let our heads drop after they scored, and that paid off in the end."

Earlier in the Championship, there were wins for the top two - Norwich and Leeds.

We've already seen Norwich boss Daniel Farke's post-match comments, so let's get a view on Leeds' home victory over QPR...

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Two disallowed goals for Sheffield United. Otherwise, it's not been the greatest spectacle.

That scoreline so far will probably suit managerless Reading, given the tumultuous week they've had, but there's still plenty of time for either side to find a breakthrough.

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Reading's Josh Sims tries his luck from 30 yards.

Speculative. Wildly off target. Still goalless.

  8. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United are happy to let Reading have the ball but keep them at arm's length and spring them on the counter attack.

Huge appeals from the Reading fans for handball against Ollie Norwood just inside the box, but there's nothing given.

  9. Blades goal ruled out for offside... againpublished at 32 mins

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

For the second time in the first half, Sheffield United put the ball in the Reading net from an offside position.

David McGoldrick turns in George Baldock's cross but this one won't count either.

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

A better spell for Reading, who have had a lot more of the ball, but haven't tested Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson yet.

  11. Comeback shows our character - Farkepublished at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

Championship leaders Norwich City scored another stoppage-time winner, this time against Bolton.

Daniel Farke's side had conceded an equaliser in the 88th minute, but Teemu Pukki popped up with seconds remaining to ensure they stay top of the table.

"It's a big compliment to the players that they were able to come back like that - it's outstanding," said Farke.

"The mentality, character and spirit of the team deserves special praise. Teemu didn't have his best game, so to score that goal shows his quality."

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United's John Fleck gets the first yellow card of the match for a lunging challenge on Andy Rinomhota.

Caretaker manager Scott Marshall will have been happy with Reading's bright start, but Sheffield United have looked the most likely side to break the deadlock since then.

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Ollie Norwood is doing his best impression of an NFL quarterback, spraying balls left and right from the centre of Sheffield United's midfield.

Everything is going through the Blades captain and he's doing the business so far.

  15. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

    Oh, David McGoldrick.

Ollie Norwood's wonderful through-ball picks out the Sheffield United striker, who sees the goalkeeper slightly off his line.

But McGoldrick's attempted lob has nowhere near enough power on it and the ball dribbles into Anssi Jaakkola's arms.

  16. Blades goal ruled out for offsidepublished at 12 mins

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United think they've taken the lead... but the offside flag saves Reading.

Conor Washington was almost on the goal line when John Egan won the flick-on from a corner and the Blades striker was ahead of play when he nodded into the net.

    Correct decision.

Sheffield United get a free-kick on the edge of the box and Ollie Norwood's whipped effort was always rising over the crossbar.

  18. Lampard tempers automatic promotion talkpublished at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    FT: Wigan 0-1 Derby

    Derby celebrateImage source, Rex Features

Derby were made to work hard by Wigan, who played with 10 men for all but 15 minutes.

Frank Lampard's side went ahead midway through the first half thanks to a Jack Marriott header, and that proved to be enough - it was also enough to lift them up to third in the table.

“I’m pleased to win and get a clean sheet, and in the first half our football was brilliant," said Lampard. “If we don’t put the game to bed, then the clean sheet's really important.

“We're still underdogs for the automatic promotion places. It’s a long season.”
