Newport v MK Dons (15:00 GMT)

Like Portsmouth, League Two leaders MK Dons are also away to sixth-placed opposition this afternoon, in the shape of Newport County.

But just two points behind Milton Keynes - and with a game in hand - are Lincoln City, who welcome Morecambe to Sincil Bank today.

Meanwhile, down at the bottom, Sol Campbell's Macclesfield host mid-table Crawley, while there's a tasty-looking game at the New Lawn this afternoon, as eighth-placed Forest Green host fifth-placed Mansfield.

Can they get back to winning ways this afternoon at Oakwell? The leaders face a tricky-looking test at sixth-placed Barnsley.

Elsewhere in League One, promotion-chasing Luton are at Coventry, while managerless Bristol Rovers travel to Sunderland.

Would EFL clubs benefit from a new loan system?

Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony has had enough of the EFL loan system, which he says has "absolutely shafted" clubs financially, and is causing an "uneasy feeling" among teams in the third and fourth tiers.

Instead, the Irishman thinks Premier League clubs should loan young players to teams in League One and League Two using an NFL-style draft.

  6. What about the sides at the bottom?published at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2018

    Saturday's EFL action

At the bottom of the Championship, Hull, Rotherham and Millwall could slip into the relegation zone this afternoon, but that depends on Bolton and managerless Reading picking up points.

Meanwhile Ipswich are starting to look very lonely at the foot of the table, seven points adrift.

    Saturday's EFL action

Leeds will go top of the Championship - for a couple of hours at least - if they avoid defeat at Bolton this afternoon, with leaders Norwich playing in today's late kick-off.

After West Brom's win at Sheffield United last night, the order of the four sides in the play-off places could well change again this afternoon depending on Middlesbrough's result at QPR, but nevertheless, it will be the same four teams occupying the play-off spots come the end of the day.

Seventh-placed Nottingham Forest could gatecrash the top six but they don't play their East Midlands derby until Monday night.
