Whether it's being rested or being dropped...it has the same sort of feeling. And the Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock is looking for his own sort of bounce after seeing his side thumped by a rejuvenated Manchester United side four days ago.

I have been afraid of Manchester United coming in for Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino for a couple of years now because, with his style of play and ability to develop players, he is the exact fit for what they want and what they need.

If he is offered the job at Old Trafford he will have a big decision to make, but I think for him to leave it would take one thing which I don't feel he is prepared to do right now - which is to basically look at the chairman Daniel Levy, the club and the fans, and say: 'I resign.'

We will have to wait and see what happens but, the type of person that Pochettino is, I think the only way he would do that is if he was leaving the club in a good place.

So, if Spurs won the Premier League, the Champions League or the FA Cup, that could be the time he says: 'There you go, that is the end - this is what I was trying to achieve at this club and now I am going to move on."

    Man Utd v Huddersfield

Strugglers Huddersfield also make three changes after losing to Southampton last time out.

Dele Alli is left out of Tottenham's squad to face Bournemouth after being substituted because of a hamstring problem during their 6-2 win at Everton on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino makes four changes to that side, with Lucas Moura replacing Alli.

Defenders Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth and Danny Rose come in for Kieran Trippier Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies as Pochettino changes three of his back four.

Leicester have won just two of their last 16 games against Manchester City in all competitions (D6 L8), with both of those victories coming under Claudio Ranieri.

Leicester City v Man City (15:00 GMT)

    Martin Fisher
Match of the Day commentator at the King Power Stadium

So Manchester City aren't superhuman after all!

Saturday's home defeat to lowly Crystal Palace sent shockwaves across the country, bringing smiles to the faces of Liverpool supporters and a few nods of approval from neutrals excited at the prospect of a genuine title race.

Pep Guardiola isn't used to losing. It will hurt, and we can expect his side to bounce back in style.

A wounded animal is coming to the King Power Stadium, where Leicester have underwhelmed their fans all too often this season. They proved what they're capable of at Chelsea - repeating that success would be an incredible achievement but surely City can't lose again? Can they?

I can recall being at Old Trafford more than 11-and-a-half years ago to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer score what turned out to be his last Manchester United goal against Blackburn.

It was greeted with a huge roar, given his arduous comeback at the time and the popularity of the man.

The decibel levels will be even higher when he walks out at Old Trafford for the first time as manager. It will be an incredibly proud moment, and after his dream start at Cardiff he will be determined to enhance the revived feel-good factor around the club.

This fixture has a very different look about it than it did a week ago from Huddersfield's point of view, as they head across the Pennines on the back of five straight league defeats.

Jurgen Klopp's demeanour at his Christmas Eve morning press conference was telling: serious but relaxed, and fully focussed ONLY on Newcastle, against whom a win would be Liverpool's 26th league success of the calendar year - a new club record.

He outlined the importance of being "patient" against a (likely) back five, and the "need to stay angry, stay greedy".

Rafa Benitez will be all smiles to start with on his latest return 'home', after coming close to being angry himself at the weekend when his Newcastle side failed to register a shot on target against struggling Fulham.

As Leicester and Crystal Palace [with Andros Townsend's rocket] showed on Saturday though, just one shot can make a massive difference.

  16. Sense of realism at Burnleypublished at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2018

    Burnley v Everton (15:00 GMT)

    Alistair Mann
    MOTD commentator at Turf Moor

This time last year, with his team residing in the top six, Sean Dyche said he was happy that Burnley supporters were dreaming about the possibility of European football.

That said, the measured and honest manager added in that same interview that it was still his job to "look at the realities".

It's that sense of realism which is now the club's greatest asset - he's sure to point out, for example, that their three most recent defeats offered encouraging signs as Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool all had to work extremely hard to overcome them.

His latest challenge will be to prepare for an Everton team who, following their capitulation against Spurs, can best be described as unpredictable.
