Neil Warnock was manager of Crystal Palace for two spells

"Have you seen the brilliant Andros Townsend goal yet?" was one of the first texts I received upon returning from working at the Club World Cup in the UAE.

Townsend himself described the strike against Manchester City as the best goal of his career, in what was an outstanding Crystal Palace performance and one they will be keen to build on.

Cardiff face two huge away matches this week, with a trip to Leicester to come this weekend.

Their form on the road is dreadful and - with Palace boosted by one of the results and goals of the season - an unprofitable return to one of his old clubs may be on the cards for Neil Warnock.

  2. 'Spurs are title contenders'published at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2018

    Tottenham v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

    Former Tottenham midfielder

It has been so tight at the top between Liverpool and Manchester City until last weekend that many people were not talking about Tottenham as being contenders.

    They are now.

Spurs have won 11 of their past 13 games in all competitions, and if they take maximum points from their next three matches over the festive period they are going to be even closer to at least one of the teams above them, because City host Liverpool on 3 January.

  3. Goals galorepublished at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2018

As football fans, we are desperate for a repeat of this.

But as live text commentators a bit raw from a heavy day of eating and drinking, we could live without 10-1, 8-2 and 4-4 scorelines.

  4. Solskjaer has his saypublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2018

Man Utd v Huddersfield (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first programme notes as Manchester United's interim manager make his view of the club's present plight fairly clear.

After starting by explaining how 'excited I am to be back", Solskjaer goes on: "We all have a lot of work to get this club back towards where it should be.

"Not only do we have to improve our results, we have to remind people what Manchester United is all about.

"We have to show everybody who we really are. This is a club built on entertainment and excitement, on giving young players the opportunity to express themselves."

Nothing says Christmas quite like a full football programme does it?

Just the nine Premier League matches for you lot to savour today, including six all coming at once at 15:00 GMT.

Even more unusually, Manchester City, United , Liverpool and Tottenham all kick off at the 'normal' time, and none of them are televised in the UK.

    Incredible effort.
