Leicester manager Claude Puel: "A good Boxing Day! We know when you play Chelsea and City it's difficult to have the ball but you must have this mentality to defend together and try to use good recovery and fast passes to break.

"We deserved this result. We had more chances than them. We changed the system to get a better balance in the team and it is a fantastic result for this team.

"Some players are very tired. It was important to put the same team on the pitch. We didn't play well against Crystal Palace but we have had two fantastic games."

"We needed to start very well and after 30 minutes we were 3-0 up and it was fantastic."

Cardiff City

Cardiff defender Sol Bamba told Sky Sports: "Everyone put a shift in, it was a great performance. This is a tough place to come and every point in the Premier League is massive so we're happy.

"Result like that (Palace beating Man City) gives you a massive boost and they were coming back home.

"We started slow but grew into the game and I think we matched them. Overall I think we deserved a point.

"The next game we'll try to get three points so we'll try to build on that and go again."

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva: "We started quite well but we weren't able to play as usual and in the end they scored an amazing goal. We are not happy but we try to overcome the situation.

"Seven points to Liverpool is starting to be a lot, we are not playing as well as we want at this part of the season. We have to find an explanation.

"We need to start winning games but we can't rely on ourselves. Even if we beat Liverpool now it won't be easy.

"We have lost two games that we shouldn't do if we are in a race for the title. There are a lot of games left and it's mathematically possible but we have to be almost perfect from now."

Newcastle United

Newcastle midfielder Matt Ritchie: "We came here with a gameplan and you can't concede in the first 15 minutes at Anfield so we're really disappointed.

"We know how much quality they've got in their team but you need to keep a clean sheet in the first 15 minutes to settle the team down and we didn't do that.

"I'm not sure about the penalty, it came off my shoulder but I don't know whether he was offside.

"We've got another game in two days' time so hopefully we can rectify the result today."

"We need to keep this momentum and after the next couple of games we will see where we are. Every game now matters.
