The shape of things to come?published at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019
We're not even a day into 2019 and the EFL has already delivered signs that it's going to be another remarkable year for the 72 member clubs.
Take the Championship for instance. It's as open as a 24-hour garage. It's exciting - we had 43 goals in the 12 games alone today.
We saw Leeds edged by Forest in a thriller, we saw resurgent Hull hit Bolton for six, Sheffield United thumping Wigan, Villa and QPR locked in a thrilling draw.
We're going to need another holiday to get over it all. Alas, many of us will be back at work - so just take it easy eh?
We'll be back here on BBC Sport with the FA Cup third round this weekend, and don't forget we'll definitely be back when the EFL reconvenes with Leeds versus Derby - a proper rivalry - on 11 January. Until then. Take care.
