    Nott'm Forest 1-0 Leeds

Phew. What a first-half. All going on at the City Ground.

One goal - from Jack Colback - separates the two teams. Leeds down to 10-men after Kalvin Phillips was dismissed. Forest lead going into the break.

Five minutes of added time at the end of a scorching tussle.

Joe Lolley was denied by Bailey Peacock-Farrell as he headed for goal, looking to put Forest two-up, but 10-man Leeds cling on as it was saved.

Still time for another goal before that whistle toots...

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Blackburn 0-0 West Brom

Nothing to separate these two at the halfway stage, but Blackburn will be very happy. They've given West Brom a real test in the opening 45.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Derby 1-0 Middlesbrough

Harry Wilson's early goal has given the Rams the advantage.

It spiced up a bit towards the end of the half, with George Saville getting a yellow for a late challenge on Derby forward Jack Marriott.

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Brentford 1-0 Norwich

The Bees have had the better of the Canaries in the first half at Griffin Park.

Julian Jeanvier's header separates the sides, and Norwich are heading for back-to-back defeats.

  7. goal

GOAL: Rotherham 1-0 Prestonpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Will Vaulks (45 mins)

My word. What a hit from Will Vaulks. Belted in from 25 yards, rising, searing, venomous beauty.

    Rotherham in front, Preston behind.

  8. goal

GOAL: Reading 0-3 Swanseapublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

Mike van der Hoorn (45 mins)

Game over maybe already? (Though I said that about Norwich-Forest the other day).

Matt Grimes put in the free-kick, Dutchman Mike van der Hoorn popped up at the back stick to turn it in.

Swansea already have the cigar out and their feet up, Reading have it all to do.

  9. Postpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Brentford 1-0 Norwich

The visitors have been threatening in west London.

Teemu Pukki breaks the Bees offside trap and gets into the box, takes a touch and goes to shoot - but Yoann Barbet is alert to the danger and slides in to block.

  10. RED CARD: Kalvin Phillips (Leeds)published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Nott'm Forest 1-0 Leeds

Kalvin Phillips is gone! Forest broke through midfield, Matty Cash losing the ball in a 50-50 and as the ball fell to Adlene Guedioura, Phillips scythed straight through him and left him in a heap.

Darren England hoisted the red card. Leeds down to 10. Forest a goal and a man advantage.

  11. goal

GOAL: Wigan 0-1 Sheffield Unitedpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    David McGoldrick (40 mins)

With the teams above them stuttering today, Sheffield United take an important lead at Wigan.

David McGoldrick slams in from close range after a goalmouth scramble.

  12. goal

GOAL: Aston Villa 1-1 QPRpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Luke Freeman (41 mins)

QPR level things up at Villa Park, and it's a stunning strike from playmaker Luke Freeman.

He picks up the ball 30 yards out, comes forward and unleashes a brilliant left-footed shot which flashes past Villa keeper Jed Steer.

    That one was travelling.

  13. goal

GOAL: Stoke 0-1 Bristol Citypublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Famara Diedhiou (39 mins)

Famara Diedhiou has had an eventful day - the Bristol City striker conceded an early penalty, which his goalkeeper saved, and has now put his side ahead against Stoke with a towering header.

    Rotherham 0-0 Preston

Preston have had a bit of a festive striker crisis, with Lukas Nmecha the only recognised forward they've had available.

He's got Paul Gallagher for company today but they're not found a way through Rotherham's Marek Rodak so far. The Slovak goalkeeper has made a couple of super saves, notably from Graham Burke from close-range, in the first half.

    Nott'm Forest 1-0 Leeds

Forest's goal in front of the Trent End is living a charmed life at the moment as Leeds just cannot find an equaliser, despite heavy pressure.

Kemar Roofe had a go, to no avail. Ezgjan Alioski had a flicked header just turned away in desperation.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are the team in the ascendancy, but on the scoreboard - it's Forest's game so far.

As a sidenote, I'm not sure if it's a slightly cynical tactic, but there are Forest players down and holding various limbs. Joe Lolley is one of them and I'm not sure they can afford him to go off.

  16. Postpublished at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Aston Villa 1-0 QPR

A big chance for QPR to get an equaliser, but Ebere Eze fires high over the bar with a first-time left-footed volley from just in front of the penalty spot.

Rangers are unbeaten in four, winning three of those games.

Sol Campbell's Macclesfield have fallen behind at home to Tranmere in League Two - Connor Jennings the goalscorer.

In the third tier, Bradford have extended their lead to 2-0 against 10-man Accrington.

  18. goal

GOAL: Reading 0-2 Swanseapublished at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Connor Roberts (30 mins)

Simple back-post tap-in for Connor Roberts, as Reading fail to cope with the ball into the penalty area.

There were Swans players queuing up to bury it, and Roberts was the lucky winner.

Two goals up now and the Royals and new boss Jose Gomes are in trouble.

    Blackburn 0-0 West Brom

Well, Blackburn Lad (see previous post) whatever alternative to the bus you're using at the moment seems to be working. Rovers are giving it a good go this afternoon.

West Brom certainly haven't had things their own way, Harrison Reed looks a threat going forward and Danny Graham's been involved too.

    Even stevens.

  20. goal

GOAL: Hull 1-0 Boltonpublished at 15:31 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2019

    Kamil Grosicki (29 mins)

Hull, chasing a fifth straight win, hit the front.

Great work from Jarrod Bowen on the right sets things up for Kamil Grosicki on the corner of the six yard box.

The Pole sees his first effort blocked but then he pounces on the loose ball and lashes a powerful shot into the roof of the net.
