    Barcelona 1-0 Celta Vigo

When Celta Vigo do get the ball they are very positive - though the final pass is lacking thus far.

Maxi Gomez takes it upon himself to hit an effort from outside the area and produces a decent save from Barca keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen low to his bottom left corner.

That's much better from the visitors.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 2-0 Al Ain

Al Ain's second change as Mohamed Abdulrahman is replaced by Amer Abdulrahman.

  4. Postpublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Barcelona 1-0 Celta Vigo

Brais Mendez has an opportunity to create something for the visitors but his free kick fails to reach a team-mate.

Barcelona then charge down the other end and Lionel Messi slots a lovely pass through to Ousmane Dembele - but goalkeeper Ruben Blanco races out to meet the threat successfully.

  5. Postpublished at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 2-0 Al Ain

It should be 3-0 but Gareth Bale hits the ball straight at Al Ain's goalkeeper.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 2-0 Al Ain

Now it's good play by Marcos Llorente to block Caio's shot.

Al Ain make a change as Bandar Al-Ahbabi replaces Mohamed Ahmed.

  7. Postpublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Barcelona 1-0 Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo are struggling to really break free of their half so far as we approach the 20-minute mark.

The home side's passing and movement has been excellent.

  8. Postpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 2-0 Al Ain

It's another chance for Real, who could run away with this now, but Gareth Bale snatches at his shot and it's wide.

  9. Postpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 2-0 Al Ain

Those was 23-year-old Marcos Llorente's first goal above Spanish third division level. His previous three goals were all in the Segunda Division B - Grupo II - for Real Madrid's B team.

  10. Postpublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Barcelona 1-0 Celta Vigo

That was Barcelona's 101st league goal of 2018 - more than any other team in Europe's big five leagues.

Plenty of time to add to that staggering number yet.

GOAL - Real Madrid 2-0 Al Ainpublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Marcos Llorente (60 mins)

Breathing space. And what a goal!

A corner is headed out to Marcos Llorente, who smashes in an absolute bullet of a shot from maybe 25 yards out. He catches it on the half-volley and it just flies low along the ground into the bottom corner.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 17:46 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 1-0 Al Ain

Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, starting instead of Casemiro again, goes down in the box and wants a penalty but I think he fouled the defender as much as the other way round.

  13. Postpublished at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 1-0 Al Ain

Al Ain get in a good poisition in the box but Rayan Yaslam's attempted shot (?) is totally sliced and goes out for a throw-in.

So bad I don't even know whether Opta count that as a shot.

  14. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 1-0 Celta Vigopublished at 17:42 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Ousmane Dembele (10 mins)

    This is delightful.

Lionel Messi sends a wonderful lofted pass over the top of the Celta Vigo defence to pick out Jordi Alba and Ruben Blanco is forced into a good save only for Dembele to fire home the rebound.

    It had been coming.

  15. Postpublished at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 1-0 Al Ain

Another Real chance, good play by Gareth Bale down the left and he picks out Karim Benzema, whose half-volley is just wide.

  17. Postpublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Barcelona 0-0 Celta Vigo

Southampton loanee Sofiane Boufal is penalised for dragging back Arturo Vidal in the centre of the park, before Nelson Semedo earns another foul for Barcelona much closer to the Celta Vigo area.

Lionel Messi whips in the free-kick which is booted out for a first corner of the game but the visitors clear the danger after some dazzling Ousmane Dembele trickery.

  18. Postpublished at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 1-0 Al Ain

Wow! Gareth Bale loves a bicycle kick in a final. A defensive header loops towards Bale, who flies high into the air and sends a stunning volley just over the bar.

That would possibly have been even better than his Champions League final one.

  19. Postpublished at 17:36 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Real Madrid 1-0 Al Ain

Poor play by Gareth Bale, who tries to take on defender Mohamed Ahmed one too many times and runs the ball over the line.

  20. Postpublished at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Barcelona 0-0 Celta Vigo

Ousmane Dembele is flagged for offside within the opening 30 seconds, caught out by Celta Vigo's particularly high defensive line.
