  1. 'Not a dive'published at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

I don't think that's a dive - I think Ambrose gets the ball, it's a perfectly good challenge, but there's a coming together once he gets the tackle

  2. YELLOW CARD Clare (Hearts)published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

It's like Lothian Buses now... This time Sean Clare is penalised for simulation as he gets in a tangle with Efe Ambrose just outside the box. Referee Kevin Clancy is suddenly a fuss pot after letting so much go.

  3. YELLOW CARD Dikamona (Hearts)published at 19:04 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

And another one... Clevid Dikamona is a bit late as Stevie Mallan squirms away from him. Again, pretty soft.

  4. YELLOW CARD Mallan (Hibs)published at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

The first booking of the night - and it's a bit of an odd one as Stevie Mallan appears to flick the ball away before his trailing leg upends Arnaud Djoum. Nothing in that at all...

  5. Postpublished at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Sean Clare gets in behind the home defence and has a chance to test Adam Bogdan. However, the Hearts man is too slow and Darren McGregor gets back to have a nibble, which diverts the ball into the arms of the goalkeeper.

  6. Hyndman not one to take game by 'scruff of the neck'published at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

My concern about Hyndman is he's the type of player who will show nice touches when the game is going for you, but when you need someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck and make something happen, I'm not sure he's the type

  7. Postpublished at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

A really ugly passage of play, with both sides incapable of keeping the ball for more than a couple of passes.

League Two leaders Edinburgh City might fancy their chances of ruling the capital roost on the evidence of the last few minutes.

  8. Postpublished at 18:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Hibs are playing with more urgency now but Hearts are soaking it up without too much fuss. Sean Mackie goes for an ambitious long-range dig and it whistles a couple of feet over.

  9. Postpublished at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Emerson Hyndman is on and it's fellow midfielder Daryl Horgan making way. That's not going to please pundit Michael Stewart, who has been calling for a change of shape for quite a while now.

  10. Postpublished at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

That's an hour gone and there is some activity on the home bench, with Emerson Hyndman getting ready to come on.

  11. Haring hobbles offpublished at 18:44 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Peter Haring was a pre-match doubt and he can't go on any further as the Austrian midfielder goes down in a heap in the middle of the pitch. Now he's limping off to warm applause from the Hearts fans, with Oliver Bozanic on in his place.

  12. 'Fantastic effort' from Shawpublished at 18:43 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

    Alan Stubbs
Former Hibs manager on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

I think he catches the keeper by surprise who looks like he thinks it's going over comfortably, it seemed to dip at the last minute and hit the crossbar - a fantastic effort from Shaw

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Darren McGregor joins a Hibs attack and the defender's knock-down sets up a shooting chance for Oli Shaw.

From outside the left edge of the box 20-year-old hits it on the half volley and the ball clips the top of the crossbar, dipping over the outstretched arm of Colin Doyle.

  14. Postpublished at 18:40 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Patient play from Hibs and Vykintas Slivka slips a cute, first-time pass into the right edge of the Hearts penalty box for Steven Whittaker but the full-back takes his eye of it and it runs under his foot. Groans of frustration from the home fans...

  15. 'Not convincing from Hibs'published at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    HT: Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

Poor defending from Hibs, it was a pretty predictable ball over the top, Darren McGregor lets it bounce - not convincing from Hibs at all after Neil Lennon has undoubtedly put a rocket up them in the changing room saying to put in a performance

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 18:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Hibs defender Darren McGergor gets himself in a fankle, failing to deal with a bouncing ball, and it allows Steven Naismith to ping in a shot that Adam Bogdan has to beat away at his near post.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Here we go again... No changes in personnel.

  18. 'Too many bodies at the back' for Hibspublished at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    HT: Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

The way Hibs are going to get players onto the ball is by sacrificing one of the three centre-halves. There's no point in playing three against one. The game has been played predominately in Hibs' half - get Marvin Bartley on to give a bit of physicality in there. They've got too many bodies at the back

  19. Hibs huffing and puffingpublished at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    HT: Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

Are we on the way to a first away win in the Edinburgh derby since April 2014?

Hibs will need a major improvement after the break. They have only tested Colin Doyle once and it was a comfortable save for the Hearts keeper from Steven Whittaker's header.

The hosts have had 57% possession but done next to nothing with it since the build up is slow and the midfield trio are not getting beyond the strikers.

Hearts are looking solid and if they get another one, you can't see any way back for Neil Lennon's men.

  20. Hearts tactics 'spot-on'published at 18:25 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    HT: Hibernian 0-1 Hearts

    Billy Dodds
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

    Quote Message

I think tactically Hearts have got it spot-on, Clare dropping in has outnumbered Hibs, they've been a threat from set pieces, there's been a lot of space found in this game, and Hibs are lacking real quality
