  1. 'Llorente key to victory'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Tottenham 1-0 Newcastle

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino speaking to Jonathan Pearce for BBC Match of the Day: "It was difficult to find space.

"We created some chances in the first and second half but the most important thing in the end is to keep pushing and it was a massive effort again in the second game consecutively. Once again I need to praise my players.

"It shows we believe and we want to win, and the character is the most important thing. Llorente was involved in the goal and is a key part of the victory today. Rotate, he’s so tired it’s tough for a manager playing every three days.

"Llorente, after Harry Kane’s injury, plays four games in a row and with three days recovery the normal thing is to rotate. It upsets me a little bit because the debate in England is difficult to understand. You have 24 players you need to use."

  2. Nuno not concerned by squadpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Everton v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo on now having only 16 outfield players with league experience in the squad: "I'm not concerned. We started [the season] with 18 players, plus goalkeepers, now we have 16 plus goalkeepers and the under-23s.

"This is the way we should go with a small squad and back-ups, giving every player the chance to have minutes because we believe this is the best way to improve and become better."

  3. 'Never a good time to face Chelsea'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Chelsea v Huddersfield (15:00 GMT)

    Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town head coach Jan Siewert: "There is never a good time [to play Chelsea] - this is just the task we are given.

"For me it was the possibility to observe Chelsea [in midweek], so I know the situation and I know they have difficulties.

"I saw some situations in which they were vulnerable, but to be honest it will be a totally different game. I know Maurizio Sarri is a fantastic manager and we have to face everything which they give us."

I want to play my football at Chelsea - Sarri

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri says patience will be needed if his vision for the club is to be fulfilled.

Sarri's side lost 4-0 at Bournemouth on Wednesday, less than two weeks after he called his players hard to motivate following a defeat at Arsenal.

The Italian said Premier League rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Spurs offered a template for success.

"English football is in the hands of these teams because they had a plan and they were patient," he said.

  5. 'We have the mentality to win'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Burnley v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl: "Burnley are a team that also is fighting for everything and it is not easy to take points in such games.

"But I saw also that these type of games we are playing now we have the mentality and we have the character to win them, and that's what we want to do.

"It's more important that we go unbeaten against these types of opponents."

  7. 'We have a tough schedule'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Brighton v Watford (15:00 GMT)

    Watford

Watford head coach Javi Gracia: "It's a tough moment for us, we have a demanding schedule and we know Brighton are playing well at home.

"They are strong, and we will try to show our best defence because we need it to have options to win."

    Brighton v Watford (15:00 GMT)

Just five points from the last nine games is the kind of tally which can disturb a manager's sleep.

Chris Hughton will be particularly frustrated that his Brighton side have twice let a two-goal lead slip since they last won in the league. After beating Crystal Palace on 4 December, they were 12 points above the relegation zone - that gap is now down to seven.

Watford's somewhat unfortunate loss at Wembley against Spurs on Wednesday ended a six-game unbeaten run. The Hornets have not finished a season in the top half of the top flight since 1987 - that's how good a campaign they're having.

After a somewhat nomadic coaching career which has taken him to Corfu and Kazan, Javi Gracia seems to have found his perfect home.

  9. 'Watford a very good side'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Brighton v Watford (15:00 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton: "Watford are a very good side, I saw them play against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening and they did very well.

"They're a consistent side and a different proposition perhaps to different seasons - I think they can finish high up the table from what I've seen recently."

  10. What will Sarri do next?published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Chelsea v Huddersfield (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton

Having loudly called his players out after losing to Arsenal and then locking himself in the dressing room with them for 50 minutes on Wednesday night, you wonder what Maurizio Sarri will do when the next crisis point arrives.

Defeat at home to Huddersfield would certainly fall into that category.

The Terriers are bottom of the league and have lost 10 of their last 11 league games, but they did earn a point at Stamford Bridge last May to guarantee their Premier League survival.

Hopes of a second great escape look increasingly remote this year, with a 12-point gap already opening up to 17th-placed Burnley.

Everton got the result they needed against Huddersfield on Tuesday and I think they will do the same on Saturday.

Beating the Terriers will not have won over many of Marco Silva's doubters but the important thing was that they did not lose because, if that had happened, then the Toffees boss would have been under serious pressure.

Now Silva needs to follow that up with a home win, and I think he will get it, although it will not be easy against a Wolves team who are back in form.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-1

There were some crazy results in midweek and Brighton's collapse at Fulham after going 2-0 up was one of them.

Watford also lost despite taking the lead at Tottenham, a result that ended their six-game unbeaten run.

I always find it difficult to predict how the Hornets will do, but I have a feeling Brighton will edge this one and get back to winning ways.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-1

  16. 'The difference is scary in Southampton'published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

You can’t help but feel they are doing something very right with managers in Germany that perhaps we aren't doing here. Hasenhuttl has reason to be relaxed, when he took over at Leipzig they did well in the Bundesliga, the difference is scary in Southampton, players like Redmond are scoring goals and the team is looking far more confident. He seems to be pushing all the right buttons for those Southampton players.

Burnley are one of those sides that have a real resilience and belief within themselves and they have turned things around. Dyche is the type of manager that believes in doing the right things and it will turn around. When you get a good group together you get that when times are hard.

  19. Don't expect goals...published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2019

    Burnley v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Alistair Mann
    MOTD commentator

It says a great deal about their equally poor starts to the campaign that, despite both currently enjoying their best runs of the season, these two clubs still sit immediately above the bottom three.

Like Southampton, Burnley have begun 2019 unbeaten in the league and currently only Manchester United can boast a longer unblemished run; indeed, the Clarets would have stood proudly atop that form table had they not been breached twice in the final moments at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Recent history tells us that this fixture yields few goals, so whichever side scores first this weekend may well be the one pulling further clear from the drop zone.

To another relegation tussle this afternoon...

Not quite a six-pointer at Turf Moor, as Burnley and Southampton are both four points above the drop zone, but a chance for one of these sides to take a big strides towards safety.
