  1. 'Biggest win' for Talbot bosspublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

FT: Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 Ayr United

"It’s the biggest win certainly in my time at the club," a delighted Auchinleck Talbot manager Tommy Sloan tells BBC Scotland.

"What a match. I thought we deserved to win today. We had a few more chances than Ayr United over the piece, although they had a lot of possession.

"We stifled them well. It was the plan today not to go toe-to-toe with them. I don’t think that would have been beneficial to us.

"Ayr are a very good side. Our lads today were magnificent to a man. We normally have a go at everyone who comes here. Today we played it a bit different.

"I’m looking forward to the draw and it’s great to be in it."

Aberdeen have brought Greg Stewart back to Pittodrie on loan from Birmingham City and the forward, who started the season impressively with Kilmarnock and is out of contract in the summer, starts against Stenhousemuir.

Max Lowe had headed back to Derby County at the end of his loan last month, but the left-back is also back after his parent club sent him back for more first-team experience as they targeted former England international Ashley Cole.

Winger Gary Mackay-Steven is also back in the Dons line-up after his concussion problems.

FT: Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 Ayr United

Ayr United manager Ian McCall tells BBC Scotland that it is the worst defeat in his career.

"Absolutely gutted that we're out the cup," he says.

"They deserved to win in my opinion. They got a goal and were able to hang on to it

"There were two stonewall penalties [not given for Ayr]. That's not why we got beat.

"We're out and that's all that matters in a cup tie. We probably need to get three, four, five of our boys back.

"They've had constant praise for 18 months. You've got to pick yourself up, that's what football is.

" We’re got a big game against Dundee United on Friday and they've got to pick themselves up."

  12. Tie of the round?published at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

Raith Rovers v Dunfermline Athletic (15:00)

Raith Rovers manager John McGlynn thinks it is the "tie of the round" and there is certainly added intrigue as Fife rivals Dunfermline visit Stark's Park.

Stevie Crawford, who was appointed Pars manager this month after Allan Johnston was sacked, was in the Raith Rovers team that not only beat Celtic to lift the League Cup in 1994 but went on to run Bayern Munich close in Europe.

But the former Scotland striker stresses that there will be no room for sentiment despite his place in the Kirkcaldy side's hall of fame.

With one win in six, the Championship visitors can certainly expect a tough test from the side sitting second in League One, although Dunfermline did win their latest two meetings last season.

  14. Can Stenny match historic win?published at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

    Aberdeen v Stenhousemuir (15:00)

There aren't many sides who can boast a 100% record against Aberdeen.

League One strugglers Stenhousemuir head to Pittodrie looking to protect that statistic having won their only previous meeting - a famous 2-0 Scottish Cup win over a Dons side managed by Celtic legend Roy Aitken.

Afterwards, Aitken popped his head into his side's dressing-room to say: "Congratulations on being part of the worst result in the club's history."

Recently appointed Stenny manager Colin McMenamin will need a heroic team talk if he is to match the achievement of the man who made duffel coats famous, Terry Christie.

The Ochilview outfit are without a win in five outings, while their Premiership hosts have won five of their last six.

  15. Can holders shine against Diamonds?published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

    Celtic v Airdrieonians (17:15)

Scottish Cup holders Celtic have had a long time to think about that Old Firm derby defeat by Rangers at the end of December

And it could be suggested they couldn't have been handed a better way to get back into the swing of things after the Premiership's winter break.

They host Airdrieonians, the part-timers sitting fifth in League One, but the Diamonds are unbeaten in their last four games.

Airdrie lost 3-1 the last time they travelled through to Celtic Park, in the Scottish Cup in January 1999, but only have to look back another five months for their last win over the Glasgow side - a 1-0 win in the League Cup.

Airdieonians manager Ian Murray says his side will be inspired by the side that reached the 1995 final, only to lose 1-0 to Celtic.

  16. Tough for other potential giant killerspublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2019

So Auchinleck have led the way by writing their names in the Scottish Cup history books, but the draw has been unkind to lower league sides hoping for giant killing acts against Premiership opposition as we turn our attention to this afternoon's fourth-round ties.

Holders Celtic, last year's beaten finalists, Motherwell, Aberdeen, Dundee, Hibernian, Kilmarnock and St Mirren have all been given home draws.

Only Hamilton from the top-flight are away from home - but they have a fellow Premiership side as hosts in the shape of St Johnstone.

The only non Scottish Professional Football League side in action this afternoon are East Kilbride, but the draw has been unkind to the Lowland League side, who have had to travel up to the Highlands to face Championship promotion hopefuls Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

It's momentous and it's memorable. The players involved will never forget this. Having been a successful junior cup team and winning so many trophies - this is different. To win at home against local rivals. It will never been forgotten. This is what the cup is all about. We want to see shocks now and again and this one's been special.
