Robson-Kanu busted openpublished at 42 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Mark Beevers leaves West Brom striker Hal Robson-Kanu with a little claret spilling from a cut on his head, after a tussle in the air.

He's stoic as the physio mops up the damage and applies some compress. Looks sore. He's tough about it.

Cor, he's really bloody-faced. Might need a new top.

Bolton defender Pawel Olkowski goes into the referee's notebook for hauling down Dwight Gayle. Free-kick to West Brom.

Set-piece... 30 yards out... CLIPS THE BAR! Dwight Gayle with a monster free-kick from distance.

Whipped it like a 99. Just lacking the flake on top. Five to the break.

  3. 'Police formed barricade'published at 38 mins

Unfortunately there were some unsavoury scenes in the stand opposite us as one fan leapt into a private box.

It looked to me as if the guy was then taken away by the stewards down the stairs of the stand, causing the 1,000 or so fans in the area to react angrily and try to then drag him back off them.

In the end, the police came up to barricade the area and two fans look to have been escorted out.

Thankfully it seems to have calmed down a little now.

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Craig Noone's low corner is cleared at the near-post. The ball is sent forward again and Clayton Donaldson wins another corner.

    He's a genuine threat.

West Brom pump it away like flood water, but it keeps trickling forward from Bolton.

  5. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Weird, scooped through ball finds Dwight Gayle in space, but Bolton squeeze the Baggies upfield and away from danger.

West Brom lose possession and Bolton are quick to seize the opportunity. They're really sharp in possession.

Pawel Olkowski wins a corner for the home side with another raid on the break. One issue... Gary O'Neil is down receiving treatment.

  6. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Baggies defender Ahmed Hegazi gets his head on the Bolton corner under pressure at the back post, but Gary O'Neil is unable to make anything of the second ball.

West Brom might be in front here, but it's not comfortable for Darren Moore's side.

  7. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Sammy Ameobi brings a brilliant save out of Sam Johnstone with a shot from the edge of the box...

The corner is cleared, at the expense of a second... Bolton growing in confidence...

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 28 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

West Brom want a penalty! Mason Holgate roars for a penalty after his cross was blocked by Bolton as it whizzed into the box. Looked a bit like the defender stretched out an arm to stop it...

Bolton break on the back of it... Clayton Donaldson holds up for Luke Murphy but the midfielder skies his shot.

A lucky break for the Trotters.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 26 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Brunt goes off, Sam Field comes on.

  10. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

Dangerous cross from the right side sails across the West Brom penalty area as the home side again threatens. Just not enough personnel in the box.

They look really sharp, but not too much by way of concrete, clear-cut chances.

Meanwhile, Chris Brunt looks like he's coming off. The Baggies captain is down, sock down and shinpad off. Might be making way sharpish.

Gaz Sloane: With some of the rumours flying around about our long-term financial situation, the likelihood of key players leaving us and the age of the remaining core, I would be a little anxious going into the new season if WBA don't go up. But we will. Nailed on. Possibly.

  12. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Bolton 0-1 West Brom

West Brom under the pump straight after scoring, but Sammy Ameobi does not trouble Sam Johnstone in the Baggies goal.

The home side swarms again, but Johnstone again shuttles off his line to gather. Bright response.

GOAL: Bolton 0-1 West Brompublished at 19 mins

    Jay Rodriguez

Chris Brunt whips a trademark free-kick to the back-post, tons of bend and curl, and Craig Dawson nods it teasingly across goal.

Bolton can only watch as it sails to the other post, where Jay Rodriguez turns it in right under the crossbar for the lead.

Cruel on Bolton, but West Brom showing their ruthlessness.

    Bolton 0-0 West Brom

If there is a criticism of Bolton at the moment, it's giving away set-pieces.

Hal Robson-Kanu runs into a cul-de-sac, but a foul is given...

    Free-kick to come...

  15. 'A lively opening'published at 18 mins

    Bolton 0-0 West Brom

    Jay Freeman
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Protests aside, there is a football match on tonight you know!

Both sides have plenty to prove at either end of the table and the hosts as well as the visitors have had chances at either end in a lively opening quarter of an hour.

There are a huge number of empty seats, but with temperatures floating around freezing I'm not sure I can blame anyone choosing to follow the game in the warm at home.

  16. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Bolton 0-0 West Brom

Bolton midfielder Gary O'Neil loops a header over the bar after he gets ahead of his marker Kieran Gibbs in the box. Making a real pest of himself is the wily campaigner.

Some smart play by Jason Lowe in the build-up, passable impersonation of Andres Iniesta in terms of turning out of danger and launching an attack.

  17. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Bolton 0-0 West Brom

Clayton Donaldson like a one-man Godzilla gives West Brom's defence nightmares as he tries to bring down a looping ball forward. The Baggies clear...

Then a ball swings onto the box but again, it's whipped away. Belying those possession stats somewhat are Bolton.

Just seen the possession stats. 80% to West Brom.

    That's ball-hogging.

James: Coming from a Bolton fan I really can’t see us staying up. I try to stay positive hoping that we’ll get a slice of luck and that will kickstart a fight back (like against Rotherham when we won 2-1) but I can’t really see it happening which is a shame.....

  20. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Bolton 0-0 West Brom

Bolton sweep that free-kick away after a bit of sloppy passing and almost release Gary O'Neil but he is deemed to have fouled Kieran Gibbs as he hared after the loose ball.

Still, they look solid enough at the back... I am trying not to jinx anyone tonight.
