  1. ... until the 'Old Farm' derbypublished at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    FT: Stoke 0-1 West Brom

Hardly a classic to round off the weekend's Championship action so far, but after the highs of Birmingham thrilling win against QPR and Aston Villa's comeback draw with Sheffield United, another humdinger would have been a bit greedy?

Just three shots on target at the bet365 Stadium.

West Brom won't care about the entertainment factor. It was a thoroughly professional win and performance that frustrated Stoke, who have now only one victory from 10 games in all competitions.

Dwight Gayle's winner was a simple finish but it was a lovely free-kick routine that caught Stoke out.

Don't forget the Norwich against Ipswich game on Sunday. That's bound to be feisty so get involved tomorrow.

Thanks for joining us today. Ta da.

We'll have live text coverage on the BBC Sport website and app from 11:40 GMT.

  4. 'The league is bunched up'published at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    FT: Stoke 0-1 West Brom

West Brom midfielder Gareth Barry told Sky Sports:

"We knew it was going to be one of them games. Once we got the goal we knew we'd have to defend well and credit to the boys we did.

"The league is bunched up a tiny bit now, but February was always going to be a big month."

  5. 'The clean sheet was important'published at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

    FT: Stoke 0-1 West Brom

West Brom goalscorer Dwight Gayle told Sky Sports:

"The set-play was one we've been working on and luckily it came off today and we got the three points. The clean sheet was really important to us.

"Every game we go into we know how difficult it'll be. Hopefully we can just continue our run."

Stoke have one last chance but the ball sails behind for a goal kick. And that's that as Sam Johnstone restarts play.

West Brom are back up to fourth thanks to Dwight Gayle's 16th goal of the season.

  7. Postpublished at 90+4 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

The perfect end for West Brom at the moment Mason Holgate wins a corner and the Baggies keep Stoke penned in their own box.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 90+3 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

    More subs from both sides.

Ryan Shawcross is on for Stoke, replacing Tom Ince and Dwight Gayle comes off, with Kyle Bartley entering the fray.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 90+2 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

As yellow cards go that was as blatant as it gets. Cynical stuff from Dwight Gayle who hacks down Oghenekaro Etebo.

  10. Postpublished at 90+1 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

There will be four minutes of added time for West Brom to hold on, or for Stoke to find an equaliser.

  11. Postpublished at 89 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

Another cross from Sam Clucas but this time it's easily cleared at the front post.

  12. Postpublished at 89 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

Into the final two minutes of normal time. It's all Stoke now. West Brom are defending very deep.

  13. Postpublished at 87 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

Sam Vokes hasn't had much service but that's a half-chance for the Stoke man. A looping cross from Tom Edwards on the right to the far post finds the big striker but his header is off target.

  14. Postpublished at 85 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

The direction is good but Tom Ince cannot get the ball to dip and it goes over. Stoke are still trailing. Just over five minutes left.

  15. Postpublished at 84 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

Saido Berahino is partnering Sam Vokes up front. Stoke have a free-kick on the edge of the box but right on the right-hand side...

    Tom Ince is poised.

West Brom's Stefan Johansen is replaced by Rakeem Harper.

Stoke also make a change, bringing on former Baggies striker Saido Berahino for Ryan Woods. They have to go for it now.

  17. Postpublished at 79 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

Stoke are really getting about West Brom as the visitors look to slow things down and knock the ball about in their own half. It's a dangerous game pressing with so many numbers.

If West Brom can pick a pass or two then they have the pace to exploit home side.

  18. Postpublished at 78 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

    Another set-piece bears no fruit.

The one that did resulted in a peach of a first-half goal for Dwight Gayle. This one resulted in nothing of interest.

  19. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Brom

Sam Clucas has had a good game down the left for Stoke. He's a winger really, but has done well at left-back and got forward plenty.

He wins a corner which is cleared. West Brom break and win a corner of their own...

  20. Parkinson upbeat about Bolton survival hopespublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2019

Bolton manager Phil Parkinson is still adamant his side can avoid relegation, despite having one win from their past 21 Championship games and being four points from safety.

“I believe we can still do it; I wouldn’t be stood here if I didn’t think we could,” he insisted.

“But we have got to find a way for teams to come away saying ‘that Bolton side had something about it.’ I couldn’t say what we were today.

“We have got to find a way of playing and stick to it. We didn’t get any control like we have in recent games.

“We can’t afford to give cheap goals away. We are up against decent sides and we have got to give ourselves a chance.

“We looked like a disjointed side and we have played a lot better.”
