The corner once again fails to be of sufficient quality. Delivery in general by the home side has been poor, there's no getting away from that. They have much better quality than that.

Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez have barely had a sniff of goal.

  2. Lambert proud despite Ipswich heartbreakpublished at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

Having been reduced to 10 men, Ipswich Town succumbed to a stoppage-time equaliser at Wigan to miss out on just a fourth win of the season.

The Tractor Boys are still bottom of the table, and Reading's draw with Rotherham means they are nine points from safety.

"I thought we started the game brilliantly, I thought we looked really, really good," manager Paul Lambert told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"The sending-off changed a lot in their favour, but I'm really proud of the team, we kept going and still looked threatening.

"We should have won it, we should have seen it through with a few minutes to go, but with 10 men it was difficult.

"We played a really good game and it was one lapse when lads were running on empty."

A half-time ear-bashing from manager Dean Smith seems to have been what inspired Aston Villa to get a point at Stoke City.

Villa trailed early on before Albert Adomah's second-half equaliser.

"I wasn't happy at half-time, I got into the players a little bit, but that was nothing to do with the shape, system or style of play, more down to our body language when we gave balls away," Smith told BBC WM.

"Both teams were very sloppy in the first half, gave balls away very cheaply, and I felt we all looked at each other as if it wasn't our mistake and we were playing alright.

"In the second half it was a much better display, I thought we were dominant, created the goal and probably should have scored more and won the game."

That's lovely build-up play by Sheffield United. One-touch football at its best ends with Oliver Norwood sending David McGoldrick in on the right but the cross is cleared.

Chris Wilder's side seem full of confidence.

A few signs of frustration from West Brom and a few grumbles from the home fans too as another attack peters out. Ten minutes in and still not a shot on target by the hosts.

    West Brom 0-1 Sheff Utd

Baggies winger Matt Phillips looks to pick out Jay Rodriguez at the far post and drifts a cross up but it's way too long.

Sheffield United have good numbers back and have been very well organised so far.

Phillips then launches another attack but Enda Stevens just about manages to thwart the pacy Baggies man on the right.

That's a nasty one. West Brom's Kieran Gibbs stamps down on the ankle of Kieron Freeman and it could so easily have been a booking at least.

It looked mistimed rather than malicious but he caught him.

It's Chris Wilder's Sheffield United side who show first after the interval, but some cute play by Billy Sharp cannot bring a chance for David McGoldrick.

The former's pass across goal just eludes his fellow forward.

Norwich City remain top of the Championship after they came from behind to beat Bristol City 3-2 in a thriller at Carrow Road, and Canaries boss Daniel Farke had no doubt which side deserved the three points.

"It was an unbelievably complicated game against a really in-form side and you could feel in each moment the confidence of Bristol," Farke told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"In such games you have to accept there are different periods when sometimes you are on the front foot and sometimes the opponent is as they're two really good sides.

"It's important not to get too carried away when there's five minutes when your opponent is on the front foot.

"When you look at the 90 minutes it was a more than deserved win as for most of the periods we were on the front foot."

  19. Jones unhappy with 'passive' Stokepublished at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

FT: Stoke City 1-1 Aston Villa

    Nathan JonesImage source, Rex Features

Stoke City manager Nathan Jones says his side need a 'mentality' shift after giving away a 1-0 lead at home to Aston Villa.

Albert Adomah's first goal for almost a year cancelled out Sam Vokes' fifth-minute opener as the Potters slipped to 17th place.

"I thought in the first half we were good and in the second half we just seemed to go into our shell a little bit and were very passive," Jones told BBC Radio Stoke.

"We've had a few passive second halves when we haven't really been on the front foot and I'm a little bit disappointed with that because after scoring a wonderful goal to take the lead, you want to go and build on that and get the second goal.

"We took a step back and waited, it's symptomatic of what they've been going through for a long time, so it's a mentality shift really, but I was disappointed with how passive we were in the second half.

"They gave me everything and they worked hard but to be honest I want us to be a front-footed side that goes after teams in the second half, we were just waiting to see what Villa did and reacting from there."
