It's a mixture of sun and cloud above Selhurst Park.

There's a hive of activity on the pitch as both teams are put through their paces.

Having started the calendar year 10 points above the relegation zone, Brighton's safety cushion is down to five points.

However, Seagulls boss Chris Hughton has won six matches against Crystal Palace in all competitions.

As well as Palace-Brighton, today also sees that other "non-derby derby" match between Plymouth and Luton. An intense, bitter rivalry dating back to 2002 and a war of words between Paul Sturrock and Joe Kinnear as their teams battled for the League Two title. Kinnear called Plymouth an average team and suggested he could play his youth team and beat them

Since leaving City, Hodgson has managed Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Palace in England.

Those of you who joined me on Thursday and Friday's live texts will be clued up everything Toby related.

But for the rest of you, here's the low down on who he is and why people are going crazy for #Tobywatch on Twitter.

Toby Briggs, a Chelsea fan from Cambridge, text in on Thursday to reveal he would hand his notice in at work if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed to get the permanent Manchester United job by the end of the day.

Hundreds of texts and tweets came though asking for Toby updates, with people asking Match of the Day pundit Gary Lineker for news, and requesting a Toby segment on 5 Live's 606.

How will day 3 of #Tobywatch develop?

When I saw Aaron Wan-Bissaka play against Fulham at Craven Cottage on the opening day of the season, I said then this was a star in the making. His performance against Burnley last weekend was once again outstanding like almost everything he has done since the first day of the season.

Wan-Bissaka now has the England manager watching his every move and I think he might find himself in the full squad very soon.

Will Gareth Southgate name Aaron Wan-Bissaka in his England squad on Wednesday?

The 21-year-old right-back has earned rave reviews after appearing in all but three of Palace's Premier League games this season.

He has already played for England at under-20 and under-21 levels and reports suggest, external he could be about to break into the senior squad.

England play two Euro 2020 qualifiers at home to Czech Republic on 22 March and away to Montenegro on 25 March.

So Brighton's Glenn Murray starts on the bench.

The 35-year-old, who scored 44 times in 112 league appearances for Palace, has scored in each of his last three appearances against the Eagles in all competitions.

Another will take him level with Manchester United's Paul Pogba and Tottenham's Son Heung-Min on 11 top-flight goals for the season.

  11. The A23 derby?published at 11:35 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

Crystal Palace v Brighton (12:30 GMT)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Crystal Palace fan Kevin Day, speaking on 5 live's Saturday Breakfast: "We just call this game 'The Derby' - the biggest derby in the world.

"If you want to call it anything it's the A23 derby. It's a proper intense rivalry.

"It's partly down to the fact Alan Mullery and Terry Venables hated each other at Tottenham - there was a rivalry about who was going to be captain at Tottenham in the 1960s.

"In 1975 in the second round of the FA Cup we played Brighton. It went to a second replay at Stamford Bridge. We won 1-0. After the game Alan Mullery walked up to the Palace fans and ripped up a £5 note and said 'I wouldn't give you that for Palace fans'.

"Bizarrely he became our manager three years later and he was the first Palace manager to be booed on in his first game and he got booed on subsequently until we sacked him."

  14. Head scratcher?published at 11:23 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

Crystal Palace v Brighton (12:30 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has attempted to explain to the rest of the football world how important this fixture is to both clubs.

Parish writes in the programme: "Today’s match is a fantastic occasion for everyone lucky enough to be inside this stadium. It is a great rivalry, one that both clubs enjoy – even if it’s a head scratcher for the rest of the football world.

"The distance between our clubs is 42 miles and whilst we are surrounded by London clubs, technically we are the closest Premier League team for Brighton geographically.

"But this one is about more than the mileage - it's a proper rivalry that stems from fierce competition on the pitch."

After a breathless week of European action, attention turns back to the Premier League and the fascinating battles at both ends of the table.

Manchester City will go FOUR points clear at the top if they beat Watford later (17:30 GMT).

That's because nearest challengers Liverpool do not play Burnley until Sunday, so third-placed Tottenham will move six points behind the Reds should they triumph at Southampton (15:00).

At the other end, the bottom three are all in action.

And just who will come out on top in the battle of the new bosses when Brendan Rodgers' Leicester host Scott Parker's Fulham?
